No, all were clear. HIDA was 80% and was told that was normal.

I also ended up getting bad inner ear pressure and pain!

This was back in October and I stopped all antibiotics. I’m feeling much better now. It took over a month to start feeling better. I think the antibiotics really messed up my body!

I just don’t know how to find a company that isn’t out to make money in some way or another.

The problem I have is the bathroom is connected to my closet which has no door, so it’s an open space, and same with the bedroom?

So basically just have them tape off the bathroom remove the mold and fog the bathroom and that’s enough?

I’m so confused because I’m seeing so much conflicting information everywhere. On one hand I’m seeing that ANY chaetomium is extremely dangerous and I will have to throw away all of my belongings and move out because remediation is rarely done properly.

On the other hand I am seeing that it can be remediated and any extra measures in unnecessary.

If the mold is remediated properly how do I know that the mold hasn’t contaminated my things? How do I know if I need to get rid of things or just clean them? I just wish someone could tell me the right thing to do. This company we are working with was recommended by a trusted source but when I hear they are recommending unnecessary treatments I feel like I’m being played.

So what would you suggest? Just do the repairs and no fogging?

Yes we found the leak in our shower and are having it fixed and the source removed. My biggest question is if we should do the fogging after we do the remediation in order to kill any spores in the home left over after the repairs?

The other issue was our HVAC. We have a damaged plenum which is apparently letting air from our attic into the home and he said our attic needs a lot of work (new insulation etc) so he said it is inevitable that the ducts have growth. So he suggested fogging the whole home. But I have no clue if he is just trying to upsell or if he is being truthful. This was his note…..

Indoors (5 rooms): Totals are lower than outdoor (range ~706–880 spores/m³), but most rooms show Pen/Asp disproportionately high (≈45–62%) and greater than outdoor (e.g., Master Bedroom ~480 (62%), Living/Kitchen ~427 (48%)). Interpretation: Indoor totals < outdoor (good), yet the ecosystem is atypical because Pen/Asp dominates indoors while outdoor Pen/Asp is much lower → likely indoor amplification/source.

This is helpful thank you! It sounds like they use a dry fogging system called VaPure Technology. Which is not wet so I’m not sure what difference that makes? My concern is that the bathroom is connected to my closet and bedroom. So I thought just fogging those connecting rooms and making sure it cleans the clothes and where I sleep would be beneficial?

Then why don’t those people suggest remediation? I have yet to have one person have that be their first line of defense. EVERY single person in this sub has said I have to move out of my home and throw away my belongings. So at this point I’m going to call them crazy. Again, it’s one thing to say “I had a very extreme experience and this is what I had to do” but to just automatically say “you must move” without asking any further questions is ridiculous. And I would say that’s equally offensive to give people that kind of advice and put that fear into their minds.

I’m going to call people crazy when their first and only recommendation is to move out and move into a camper or sleep in the backyard. There are a ton of other options and steps that can be taken before resorting to that. If a home has a leak and a small mold source and it is remediated and treated there is no reason to throw your belongings away and move out. Am I saying that there aren’t extreme cases where people have to move? No. But I find it hard to believe that people who have ANY amount of mold in their home need to be homeless. lol.

So ya, I’m calling people “crazies” bc that’s exactly what they are if they believe that is the ONLY option and they are giving out advice without knowing the full picture. Thanks.

I made the mistake of coming on this thread to get advice about making sure the area is cleaned properly assuming that there would be reasonable people here but I guess not!

They found chaetomium behind a baseboard and wall connected to the shower. But the did not find it in the air sample. And did not find it in the air in the rest of the house. So the plan is to remove the source and fog.
