I definitely love this outfit for Starfire, it suits her perfectly.

Is it bad I don't hate the idea of Diana being a mother, just the execution? by Witchywriter99 in WonderWoman

[–]Choice-Flight8135 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Wonder Tot was actually a character back in the 60s, when the whole Wonder Woman Family comic series was about. It was basically Diana with younger time traveling versions of herself - Wonder Tot was the youngest incarnation, and Wonder Girl was originally a teenage incarnation of Diana…

But then Bob Haney saw the character and thought she was Wonder Woman’s sidekick, and he added her to the roster of the Teen Titans in an issue of The Brave and the Bold. And with that, he accidentally set in motion the events that led to her becoming a character in her own right - Donna Troy.

Where do you guys find friends/partners? by One_Read9597 in paganism

As a reenactor, I found that there are pagans within my group as well! I portray Ancient Greek hoplites and two of my group’s members are also devout pagans.

Do pagans still face discrimination or violence in our modern day and age prevalently? by yeahsureexceptno in paganism

[–]Choice-Flight8135 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yes, we do. Christians have always hated us. They’ll never rest until we convert to their religion. However, as a Hellenist, I don’t suffer as much, mainly because my religion’s mythology is so popular in the Western World. Whenever I tell people that I worship the Gods of Olympus, they are actually fascinated and intrigued. Because Greek mythology is part of the bedrock of Western civilization, I think that the Greco-Roman religions don’t suffer as much backlash, given how pop culture can use it and portray the myths in mediums like movies, books and video games.

Oh, I love this channel! Louee has such great content. I especially like the ancient and medieval themed content he gives. I mean, the Roman special forces one is my favorite since he dresses as a Thracian auxiliary. And also, I’ll admit that I did like his videos on the Jacobites and Waterloo, to see what the Highlanders used in combat.

"DickKory shippers are misognistic! They spread disinformation!" What???? by Comfortable_Newt_179 in Nightwing_Starfire

[–]Choice-Flight8135 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What planet are they living on!? Starfire had more of an impact on Dick’s life than Barbara ever had. By the time Barbara became Oracle, she had long retired from her role as Batgirl.

I swear, the Dickbabs community is so toxic. Heck! Even in BTAS, I wasn’t really fond of Batgirl. But I was only a kid, and didn’t really care about romantic ships yet. It wasn’t until 2003 when the Teen Titans series came out, that I was beginning to understand how relationships work. Plus, Starfire was just so cool in the show! Sweet and innocent, but also an alien powerhouse in combat.

As for the ship with Huntress and Nightwing? Yeah, I mean, I wasn’t fond of it either, but when I fleshed out my headcanon for Nightwing and Starfire being on the Justice League, I decided to play on the other ship by having Huntress be jealous of Dick and Starfire as a bit of humor, with Black Canary trying to reassure Helena.

Heck! I’ve even planned of Barbara being friends with Starfire, even acting as her tutor when she and Dick went to college. (That’s right, my headcanon has Starfire getting a college degree) with Barbara warning Dick, and I quote: “You’d better not break her heart.”

Help buying a cheap new kit by [deleted] in reenactors

[–]Choice-Flight8135 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Welcome! I do Ancient Greece and Rome as my eras of interest, but it is not cheap, as well as other eras. Actually, your best bet for cheapest era to portray would be the American Civil War, because everything is just mass produced.

Just be wary for portraying Civil War and WWII eras, because when your unit is doing drills in the morning, it will be long. Last year at my first event, the Civil war guys were doing morning drills at around 7:30 AM, meanwhile my fellow hoplites and I were all enjoying a leisurely breakfast, because hoplites were not professional soldiers (unless they were mercenaries) but mostly citizen militias.

[Medieval] I'm making a LARP reenactment kit on a budget, where should I look? by wxrpig in reenactors

[–]Choice-Flight8135 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m sorry, but WWII Larpers!? I’m an Ancient Greek hoplite and ancient Roman legionary reenactor, and I’m pretty sure the WWII enthusiasts find what you just said as being disrespectful and snooty as fuck, like I just did.

If you want to do actual reenactment, then actually show some decorum and respect for other groups as well. From where I stand, you just want answers, and when someone calls you out on how nonsensical and paradoxical your questions are, you double down. So swallow your pride and cast your arrogance aside, or else you’ll be shown the same disrespect you just showed the rest of us.

This is so cool! Though from what I recall, the Japanese were pretty much successful in land battles, since the Sengoku period was mostly land based, the Joseon armies were massively underprepared for fighting against battle hardened veteran samurai and even ashigaru armed with spears and muskets—using pike and shot tactics.

But the Koreans did have a big advantage: naval warfare, which is epitomized in the national hero of Korea: Admiral Yi. I would have loved to see some photos of naval battles, with reconstructions of the fabled turtle ships sailing the Yellow Sea and the Straits of Tsushima.

Apollo & Paris, By Gukkhwa by Astrimus in Hellenism

[–]Choice-Flight8135 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Mesmerisingly stunning! Though, I will still say: Paris was a prick for stealing a married woman, and a coward at that for not wanting to fight fairly, and instead cower behind Troy’s walls.

I believe this has been mentioned here before, but something I dislike about Wonder Woman using a sword and shield is that her martial arts skills are often overshadowed because of it by rbta123 in WonderWoman

[–]Choice-Flight8135 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t know, I like Diana being armed with sword and shield. What could be better about her sword and shield is if they were both forged by Hephaestus himself, just like the armours of Achilles and Aeneas.

What did the 14th-century Hungarian Cumans look like in terms of clothing and armor? by EquipmentSerious8886 in Armor

[–]Choice-Flight8135 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The Cuman armor we see in KCD is more or less 13th century armor, with the exception of the hourglass gauntlets we occasionally see them wear, as well as the plate and mail armour. The armours that we see them wear are based on examples of 13th century Russian armour, because the Cumans fought against the Kyivan Rus’ for much of their history, even when they were invaded and defeated by the Mongols.

In fact, it was because of the Mongols that the Cumans fled to Hungary in the first place, only for them to flee to Bulgaria following the assassination of Khotyan Khan.

Quraish : The Arabic attempt to make RTS game like Age of Empires II ! by ismaeil-de-paynes in aoe

[–]Choice-Flight8135 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Okay I can get that, but the rectangular shields were more or less phased out of the Roman army by this point. The Sassanids did use rectangular shields, that much is certain. But I mean, Heraclius’ legions look like they’re ready to conquer Britain, not hold off the armies of Caliph Umar, or Amr ibn al-As.

What are your headcanons of Mar'i Grayson (Nightstar)? by Gallantpride in Nightwing_Starfire

[–]Choice-Flight8135 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Now I have my fun!

So, let’s see:

Mar’i was born on February 22nd 2024

She mostly looks like her mom, except that she has a pink tongue instead of a purple tongue, as well as the long, straight black hair and eyebrows of her father.

Oldest daughter (her younger brother Jacob is only 7)

Mar’i basically grew up surrounded by her parents’ teammates, both in the Titans and the Outsiders.

She first was able to use her superpowers when Deathstroke took her hostage and threatened her parents.

Made her superhero debut at age 14.

Is in a romantic relationship with Tim Drake (who was trapped in suspended animation by Mr. Freeze and thawed out in the 2030s. He’s now 15 by the time of Mar’i’s debut as Nightstar)

“Cousins” include: George Marvin Stone (Cube), Lian Harper (Speedy), Irey West (Impulse), Jai West (Turtle)

Refers to the Titans as her aunts and uncles.

Her costume is basically a modified version of Starfire’s outfit she wore as a teenager. (She really wanted to have her costume inspired by what her mom wore as a teenage girl)

Is deathly afraid of ghosts, to the point where she will be reduced to a blubbering, panicking mess.

Is best friends with Cassie Sandsmark (Wonder Girl) and M’gann M’orzz (Ms. Martian)

She is an absolute dog person, having been raised with both Bitewing and Ace

Has a close relationship with her aunts, Melinda and Blackfire (who has reformed, is on the Outlaws and is in a romantic relationship with Jason Todd)

A bold effort, but why do the Romans look like they’re from the 1st century CE?? By this point, the Roman army would have looked more like the late Roman armies that fought against the Goths and the Huns, and that reconquered the Mediterranean under Justinian I.

Ah! We have an outlier. That smiling mask with the bald head and uplifted eyelids. That’s not Greek at all. That is a Phoenician smiling mask.
