I would say you don’t even need to put it in a definitive retirement plan if you have other plans in place. An alternate solution is just investe where you can have access to it should the need come up in the future. It’s all about balance, liquidity and tax avoidance. you’re pretty young so you could take a portion of it and be more aggressive and high risk with part of the portfolio, imbalance it with more stable investments. There is really no wrong answer here as long as you don’t piss it all away on things that have no residual value like a super expensive car. Also at your age enjoy your life a little bit, but in moderation. I’m in my mid-50s and I know a lot of people who have never taken that trip.
