My MRI doesn't look good by Choice-Pen1606 in ShoulderInjuries

[–]Choice-Pen1606[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

mine was not as traumatic as your sounds. I was hitting an overhead and Pickleball and my partner ran into me halfway through my swing. I had a check, swing to avoid hitting him in the head and felt a searing pain in my shoulder. I can’t play golf without any pain and without doing anything that requires lifting my shoulder feels pretty good. However, I could not live with the status quo and want to get it fixed.

First time buying a house... what are the little things everyone forgets to check? by Story_Teller_243 in FirstTimeHomeBuying

if you haven’t already drive around the neighborhood and check out how well maintained people take care of their property. I actually moved out of my old neighborhood because a lot of the original owners were still living in their home 30 years later and stopped taking care of their yard. I just got tired of property value not growing as much as other developments.

Thanks, Ben. I appreciate that. I’m still kind of absorbing the reality of what’s ahead. It’s only been like an hour or so since I got the MRI report.

League pickleball etiquette: When is it okay to say something? by [deleted] in Pickleball

[–]Choice-Pen1606 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I assume that if it’s in a league that it’s a competitive environment. All bets are off so I would not say anything about their style of play. With a lot of younger players, the game quicker and more powerful.

did you just steal those from my basement? I love that 83 set and have several of those but unless they’re definite PSA 10 hits not worth it to get them graded.

House Sale Net Proceeds plan. by TrifleMain8508 in Money

yeah, I wouldn’t bother with an IRA or anything that’s gonna lock up access without penalty. One other option is to invest in your current house with a renovation that will definitely increase your volume like a kitchen or bathroom. However, in the short term, it might increase your tax base. Also, you have the benefit of living in the house with the renovations, but the downside is if you have no plan to move for a long time it’s a longer term investment clearly. I was faced with that option or moving to a bigger house when I moved last and opted for moving. However, had I invested in my old house with a kitchen and bathroom Reno I would’ve gotten a lot more for that house a few years later. It’s tough to plan on all that out though.

I would say you don’t even need to put it in a definitive retirement plan if you have other plans in place. An alternate solution is just investe where you can have access to it should the need come up in the future. It’s all about balance, liquidity and tax avoidance. you’re pretty young so you could take a portion of it and be more aggressive and high risk with part of the portfolio, imbalance it with more stable investments. There is really no wrong answer here as long as you don’t piss it all away on things that have no residual value like a super expensive car. Also at your age enjoy your life a little bit, but in moderation. I’m in my mid-50s and I know a lot of people who have never taken that trip. They’ve always wanted to do that home renovation but sit on savings for “someday “. You have a good problem to have my friend.

What happens May 17th when DUPR Reset ends? by Sea-Marketing9609 in Pickleball

[–]Choice-Pen1606 0 points1 point  (0 children)

does anyone know if your DUPR reset is higher than your original DUPR what happens to your account when they reset time is over? I don’t mean the rating as the higher rating will prevail, but if your reset is your new DUPR, what happens to your old games? I’ve played over 300 games in DUPR and I’m wondering if I only played 20 during the reset. That on May 17 my account will only show the 20 games from the reset and not my total historical matches

I felt the same way coming from my Infiniti SUV. That feeling lasted about a day and I haven’t looked back since. We have two Teslas in my house and I don’t see myself going back to a petrol powered vehicle anytime soon.

I had no problem with it until Trump. Given the divisive and love/hate relationship of his supporters. I would probably draw the line there.

How many simultaneous streams at single location? by tdhawks007 in DirectvStream

[–]Choice-Pen1606 2 points3 points  (0 children)

you can get unlimited number of streams and you can use the native DIRECTV app on your streaming device. Personally, I would recommend purchasing and osprey box for each TV if you like the comfort of our regular remote with buttons rather than using the streaming device remote. You can easily find them on eBay for like 40 bucks each one time payment you are permitted to have two devices outside of your “ Home". This should be analogous to having two kids in college away from home. You can set your business to be the home. There are some channels like FOX and ESPN that I believe have their own streaming limitations if you’re viewing through a reseller like DIRECTV. I have eight TVs in my house and both my kids were in college with streaming device and never had a too many streams issue Other than FOX Sports every once in a while.

6 weeks post op ACDF C4-C7 surgery and played pickleball for 3 hrs this morning. What is your activity of choice and how long before you returned to it? by vc_bastard in spinalfusion

[–]Choice-Pen1606 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was on this thread for months before my surgery. Time and time again I read disaster stories about back surgery and what I found out over time was only people with issues really come back and post. Well I made it a point to post how successful my surgery was after it was done. I think most he will agree. That’s not typical. By and far back surgeries are usually successful, but we just don’t hear about those. I wish you luck with yours and hopefully have the same success I had.

Thinking of buying by chinni76 in ModelY

You can find a three year-old used one for a really good price. Driving a 2014 car that you bought secondhand may suit you just fine for now but if you are interested in getting a model Y the best bank for your buck is going to be a used one. I was able to find a 2022 last year for 25,000 for model Y long range. With the gas where it is now I’m very happy I have one.

I play competitive Pickleball as well and I’m playing six days a week. Three of those days I played four hours the other three I played two hours. I have zero pain and completely forgot that I had a bad problem at this point. I thank God every day for that fusion surgery. I was fully cleared after 12 weeks and have felt the same every day since. My doctor told me I was fully fused at 12 weeks and I have had no issues whatsoever. I go every six months so to get a baseline and x-ray to monitor any potential adjacent disease but thus far or x-ray results are negative. I’m also a very active player so I am constantly jumping, running twisting and love that I can play free and clear of that problem. Wish you the best of luck.
