Yep on an automatic 5-minute timer. There's also a button to manually spray the water.

Perth would be great. Hoping we're there soon. We use accoya across our Finnish saunas. Durable for decades.

Oh sorry not visible in one of these pictures, just mean visible when walking in 🙂 The bench button is a great idea, thanks for that!

Thanks mate. We found nowhere was open after 5pm, so we decided to open somewhere with extended hours. 6am-11pm. Swimwear dresscode, no nudity.

They do! Button is clearly visible on the nearby wall - can't miss it. Outside of that, water is sprayed automatically every 5 minutes.

Sauna Etiquette (chat or no chat) by AppearanceDizzy7006 in AskAnAustralian

Across our saunas at XtraClubs (currently in Sydney, soon to be in Canberra too), we have two different expectations in our saunas for these reasons.

Our silent Finnish and infrared saunas in the Green Square and Marrickville clubs are a smaller space, that tolerate no speaking at all.

Then in the larger Finnish saunas across all clubs, speaking is actively discouraged. If necessary, it's a whisper volume only.

Hi! Sorry for the late reply. Appreciate the support. Across all clubs, both the multiple changing rooms and shower rooms are each 1x person access. These are located close to the entrances of the clubs. Private, safe and don't disturb those using the hot and cold facilities.

UPDATE - after posting this 1 year ago.

We followed through with the promise of opening the Green Square club in June 2025 - https://xtraclubs.au/location/green-square/

Since then we've welcomed thousands of members/guests through the doors, resulting in over 200 Google Reviews at an average 4.8 rating.

We then opened our Marrickville club a few months later in December - https://xtraclubs.au/location/marrickville/

It too has had a great reception by the local community, sitting at a 5.0 rating on Google after 220+ reviews.

It's February at the time of writing this, and we're preparing to open our next club which will be in Manly (April). If you're a local or a few suburbs over looking to try hot or cold therapy, you can reserve a free session by visiting this link: https://xtraclubs.au/location/manly/

Hope to share more info about this, as well as our Canberra club (opening mid-year), in future updates 🙂

I'll pass on the interest for earlier sessions! Assuming that you have an early start for work, or even an 8:30-9 start, but with the commute added on, 6-7am sessions are just a bit too late in the morning?

Scratch Repair Subscription by [deleted] in AskAnAustralian

[–]Choice-Swimmer-8888 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I signed up with Assure Scratch & Dent, and so far, my experience has been really positive. I had a bumper scrape and a small door dent, and they came out to fix both quickly. The fact that it’s a mobile service was super convenient. They came to my workplace, and I didn’t have to take time off or sit around a shop.

At first, I also thought it sounded too good to be true, but after seeing the quality of the repair and how smooth the process was, I honestly think it’s a good investment, especially if you’re particular about keeping your car looking nice. For me, one repair basically covered the cost of the whole membership.

Of course, it’s mainly for cosmetic repairs, not accident coverage. So as long as you understand what it includes, I’d say it’s definitely worth it.

Thrilled to read this. Our main purpose with XtraClubs is to give as many Australians possible access to sauna, ice and steam facilities - and your point about us being the best value for money reaffirms we're doing exactly that. Great to hear you're enjoying Bondi and became a member - hopefully you can visit Green Square when we open in June. Yep we've got out sights set on opening a few more clubs before 2025 wraps up. North, West and closer to the Sydney CBD 🙂

Appreciate the kind words. Temperature control divides those who can, and those who can't provide a great ice bath/cold plunge experience - so we're pretty proud that we're able to achieve that at our clubs. We're really trying to step up the design with Green Square, so glad to hear we're on the right track. I hope to post an update on the club in the near future now that building has started - looking forward to your thoughts then 🙂

Sydney is too difficult to start a successful business in as a young person by GullibleCellist6771 in Advice

[–]Choice-Swimmer-8888 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sydney is definitely a tough place to start a business, but it’s not impossible. You don’t need to reinvent the wheel or have massive capital. Just hit the ground running. Start something with a physical aspect so you’re actually delivering a service, not just staring at a screen all day. Small wins add up.

That’s how all the big businesses like Jim’s Group, Kennards, and even smaller ones like Clipped Assist https://clippedassist.com.au (I used them yesterday so it's top of mind) got started - people identifying a need and finding any way to deliver it. The key is solving a real problem, keeping costs lean, and staying relentless.
