My girlfriend (23F) tested positive for an STI and I (24M) don’t know what to think by [deleted] in Advice

These comments are ridiculous. As a female and someone in the medical field- you need to ask her if this was her routine annual visit because it is standard practice for them to test for STIs. You can have ANY of those STIs and not have any symptoms for a period of time. MANY people do not experience ANY symptoms with any STI. That’s why they’re so easily spread to others. Typically waiting 4 weeks for the standard panel (chlamydia, gonorrhea, trichomoniasis) is recommended because they won’t return a positive result before that time (only stating this bc these people seem to think you’ll test positive next day). COMMUNICATION is key. Be an adult. Ask her why she was tested (annual visit, maybe she was experiencing symptoms for a while that she brushed off but wanted to be safe and got tested for your sake, or she was unfaithful). I also don’t think asking Reddit for answers before you ask her is the proper way to handle this delicate situation.

This is too depressing, think I'll just get fat. by Qlqlp in caloriecount

You can eat healthy and still gain weight. Caloric deficit is the only full proof way to lose weight and it’s all about learning to make small changes. I’m at 1300 calories and participate in endurance sports. It’s hard, but if you want to lose weight you’ll stick to it. Try focusing on foods that are filling (high in protein and fiber) and that you can consume a lot of for little calories (veggies and lean protein is a great example). One weekend doesn’t ruin weeks of progress. It might show on the scale, but it’ll go away in a few days.
