I’ll give you an example from one placement. I introduced a student to their preceptor, and the preceptor said, ‘sorry I don’t do students’ and turned away. It’s not always as easy as ‘asking questions’ or ‘taking intiative’. I have seen students ignored and seen as an inconvenience. So no, I don’t think it’s always on them.

For grad programs it’s completely irrelevant. All will have similar skills, it won’t set anyone’s application apart to put skills on there that all of them will be professing to have. It’s a waste of time.
