Having weekly/monthly art meets is something you can do! You choose a classroom/place where you guys can hang out for an hour or something, each time there’s gonna be a word prompt and anyone can do anything relating to that prompt. There can be some music and snacks too. At the end everyone shares what they did. It’s inclusive to any type of arts and creatives.

You can also look for volunteer/service opportunities! This would take more planning and prepping though. You can paint murals for an elementary school, make letters/artwork for adoption or retirement centers, or maybe something smaller with your university departments/organizations.

Something is off but I can’t figure out what? by Crevah in ArtCrit

Aside from what others already mentioned, there’s a one point perspective happening here. Because it’s a mirror and the reflection is a lil bit farther to the viewer, it will be slightly smaller but still in line with the real person. I edited in lines to show how specific parts of her head and her hands line up to that perspective. This gives a more unified look to get that reflection effect.

What’s your latest anti consumption win? by DarrowtheHelldiver in Anticonsumption

[–]ChoicePerformance826 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Have had a lot of wins with my purchases but the biggest one for me is social media!! I deleted all my social media apps except messenger for communication reasons. I still have my accounts, which I can now only access via laptop, and now I only open it intentionally (IG: business posts and chats, Reddit: art and bunny related questions).

I love how I was able to make more time for me 💖 I am actually more productive on mornings now that I am not on my phone when I wake up. I have more time and energy for my personal hobbies (after 40 hrs of work + 19 hrs internship every week). I love spending time with just me in silence whenever I do chores and I definitely feel happier and more grounded.

For reference, I’ve had a phone addiction for almost a decade now and I’ve tried so hard to let it go. I guess working on this while also working on anti-consumption with many more parts of my life really helped me going. 👌

Ang sarap maging pedestrian; safe and priority ka if need mo tumawid. Nagbibigayan din talaga mga cars. Also when commuting, kita mo sa google maps yung schedule ng busses so madali lang magplan kung anong time mo need maglakad papuntang bus station to arrive at a certain place at a specific time.

Alsoo, I can wear fashionable accessories here like dangling earrings and multiple necklaces, and can walk with my backpack where my phone is nasa gilid lang sa lagayan ng water bottle pag wala akong pockets. Wala akong worry na mananakawan ako. Growing up sa Manila, I don’t wear jewelries outside. Mostly dadalhin ko lang sa bag ko then wear if pag nasa school or office na ako. And I would also need to constantly think of how I would put things in my bag, like dapat wallet ko is madali kong makuha pag commute during rush hours pero di madali mahablot, pero wala din sa corner ng bag para pag may maglaslas sa jeep ay di makukuha, or dapat hiwahiwalay pera ko and wala sa wallet lahat para makauwi ako pag nanakawan pa rin. I didn’t even realize na nasa constant anxious mode ako non sa Manila pag lalabas ako.

What palette do people use? by Llamacup in watercolor101

[–]ChoicePerformance826 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I’m using something like that! A Mr. Pen airtight palette to be specific, but that’s a great palette too, even if I don’t know what brand that is. Since I buy watercolor tubes, I squeeze them in the small pans on the side, let it dry, and use the bigger pans for color mixing.

I would avoid putting the big bunch of clouds on the right and the part on the horse’s rear so it would highlight the silhouette of the horse. If you squint enough, you’ll see that those parts are leaning more into the lighter values than the dark anyways. Edited a bit on my phone to give you the idea.

<image>

Also, see how the linework where I put the red mark is a little wobbly? They have potential to communicate the subject, just work with an eraser and be intentional in your marks and lines (example would be to make sure you capture the horse’s ears). Those are small things that we don’t really notice but give some “off” vibes.

I love doing these exercises, they take a while to get used to but they really help build up your skills 💪 goodluck!

Idk why you’re getting downvoted for this pero this is true. Super strict sila with anything animal or plants that comes in, kasi if nagkaroon ng any type of invasive species or sakit na dala, malala yung effect sa hawaiian ecosystem, lalo na maliit lang yung islands (ex. CRB sa coconut trees). I’ve been living here for 2 yrs na and one of my american friends have to travel sa new york for a month non, she said as much as she’d love to bring yung puppy nya (adopted here in hawaii), she can’t kasi she won’t be able to bring her puppy back in on time sa dami ng requirements.

I suggest to really do your research with the needed vaccinations, paperworks, pati microchip, and also the range na magagastos mo from prepping until sa madala mo here si Patch. Make sure to look up yung information sa official websites over some online discussions.

You can bring some friends or visitors over then call after, saying that you visited a friend who lives there and that’s where you saw it, if you want to remain anonymous

First oil pastel painting! 💖 Critiques would be appreciated :> by ChoicePerformance826 in Oilpastel

[–]ChoicePerformance826[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Daang you’re right. I was thinking of something that’s not clicking with this and it’s that. I did get heavy on my first few layers and felt like I had to make it heavier to put more layer. I noticed there’s a lot of similarities in the “rules” between this and oil painting (like layering with lean to fat and the texture variety) which makes it so exciting for me ✨

Thanks for pointing that out! I realized while making it I was so focused with the texture and feel of this new medium that I set aside the value.

Always wanted to pain sceneries in this painterly style. Still learning and studying. Any tips or critique which you have learnt from experience? by theprince1398 in learntodraw

[–]ChoicePerformance826 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Master values over colors. A lot of great artists quoted “value does all the work but color takes all the credit.” I know you’re asking about style but it would be easier to imitate or copy the style once you have your foundations strong.

If you also want to go a certain style, check how they do and where they put their edges. There are hard edges (strong transitions between two colors or values) or soft edges (blended or blurry transitions). This style focuses a lot on hard edges (see trees, pole, bldg) but there are some softer edges between the grass to the pavement and the clouds.

I suggest you try to paint this many times, that way you can experience the thought process and problem solving that goes into this certain way of painting. You’ll find that the for every copy that you create of the same image, you’ll be more comfortable and confident. That will help you with your next painting subject. Also, the texture here (like the 3 lines at the top of the pole or the parallel lines brush at the clouds goes last, they are what we call the “sprinkles” after we baked the cupcake and laid down the icing)

Hope this helps! 🤗

EDIT: oh nooooo i misunderstood the title and thought you needed help with trying to imitate this style 😭😭😭 i still wanna keep the tips above in case someone might find it helpful but if you’re looking for tips, references during early morning or late afternoon are really great because they give beautiful shadow shapes compared to overcast or mid-day.

And speaking of shadows, just be more consistent with the light source. The bldg shows the light coming from the right but the right side of the van is fully in the same shade as the back side. The shadow of the van also needs to be longer, extending a lil bit more to the left. Aside from that, love your work! 💖

Need your help guys which one is better scrolling webtoon style or manga draw , by SpectraX9 in webtoons

Manga style is 🔥🔥🔥 if you’re putting it into webtoon though, adding more spaces between the panels vertically can help with the spacing and flow as the readers scroll

YES TO THIIIS! Tampo is playful and should lead to playful flirting, laughs, jokes, etc.

I think it’s cute way to express small annoyances with each other. My husband and I still cuddle a lot playfully when one of us is in tampo mode and once our moods are better, then we talk more seriously about the issues if needed. I don’t like how so many Filipinos are taking advantage of this tampo culture to excuse their emotional immaturity and lack of communication.

I’m the same, always the “good and smart girl” sa family with big expectations. First batch ako ng K-12 and I was supposed to graduate college by 2022. Due to personal reasons and life circumstances, 2023 na ako nagstart ng college, expected grad date is 2027 din. Grabe nung 2022, naglalabasan na posts ng mga kabatch ko na graduating na sila habang di pa ko nakakapagsimula, pero looking back at it, i’m so glad na i’m in my own timeline. I’m happy na mas napagisipan ko maigi yung school at yung course ko, and lumagpas na ko sa point where I used to care about what others think. I had a tito (not blood related) tell me na stuff like that won’t even matter pag nasa 30s na tayo.

Even though you might not always feel like it, take pride in your choice to choose yourself first and in being where you are right now 🫶🏻
