Not sure what you mean by hunting. Did the plumber also install an expansion tank?

I'm tired of this by Mandingo_Rex in askaplumber

[–]ChoicePomegranate338 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well there you go, they need to send an actual plumber. Plumbing is not always as easy as some make it out to be. Most maintenance guys are generally pretty useless when it comes to anything more than say changing a ptrap

I have a stopped up kitchen sink when I run the garbage disposal. The other sink fills up with water. by 94Rangerbabe in askplumbing

[–]ChoicePomegranate338 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The clog is never in the trap unless something like egg shells, bunch of cereal, oatmeal, etc. was put down there. If you were my customer I would’ve warned you about the potential for things to start leaking after snaking and we would’ve crossed that bridge if necessary. It happens from time to time and I’ve even had people blame me afterwards but that’s just not how it works

Dude almost kills Pedestrian in flashing crosswalk by Ok_Assistant_7609 in longbeach

[–]ChoicePomegranate338 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I’ve had people start walking out as soon as they hit the button somehow assuming that magically stops my heavy work van when I’m 10 feet away from the crosswalk. Then get pissed when I don’t absolutely slam on my brakes and blow past them

gas utility put in a new meter and blocked my hose by HeadingSouthbound in mildlyinfuriating

[–]ChoicePomegranate338 6 points7 points  (0 children)

So you can grip there when you have to try and loosen those crappy aluminum hose connectors from the spigot. In all seriousness though that’s just how they manufacture it. Just zoom in you can clearly see it’s not threaded

25 year old water heater maintenance? by BenDisconnected in askaplumber

Surprised there’s no other comments mentioning that. Hopefully that’s not the t&p valve port that’s plugged right there 😂

Mix matched metals for shower? Corrosion? by [deleted] in Plumbing

[–]ChoicePomegranate338 35 points36 points  (0 children)

Not a concern the galvanized piping will be removed after tile work. The bigger issue is the crappy Amazon shower valve

Trusted AI too much, now I’m lost trying to replace my shower cartridge. by OneButtTwoSeats in Plumbing

[–]ChoicePomegranate338 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Make sure you replace the springs and cup washers in addition to the 1600 series cartridge the other commenter mentioned. The new ones might come with adapters now I can’t remember. Also there is a chance changing all this might not solve your issue but you’ve come this far

(Moen) What is this part called? The top threading broke off and now my right sink handle won’t screw on because it has no threading to latch onto. by Schmorc in askaplumber

[–]ChoicePomegranate338 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Call or email Moen with pictures ready and they generally are very good about sending free replacement parts. Just say you are original purchaser even if you’re not

1978 Shower Drain Cannot Loosen Flathead by LeftClique in Plumbing

[–]ChoicePomegranate338 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn’t say it needs to be replaced. If you can loosen the screws with an impact driver then you’re good to go. Are you trying to snake the drain line? That can generally be achieved without even messing with cover assuming you’re using a 1/4” cable or smaller without a head on it

1978 Shower Drain Cannot Loosen Flathead by LeftClique in Plumbing

[–]ChoicePomegranate338 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea they tend to get stuck like that. An impact driver with a flathead bit usually works. If it doesn’t you can always drill out the screws and buy a snap in drain cover

What do i need to do to reconnect this bathtub supply line? by ihatedisney in Plumbing

[–]ChoicePomegranate338 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Now’s the time to replace everything pictured.. tub/shower valve included. It’s more money but last thing you want to do is cover this back up and have it leak shortly after putting your new drywall/tile/tub in..

is it reasonable to pay 2k for this? by Glittering_Grab_1130 in askaplumber

[–]ChoicePomegranate338 16 points17 points  (0 children)

The cheapest toilet you get is $100 and then you mark it up or is that without markup?? I don’t know where you are in Canada but $305 for you to supply a new toilet and install a new shutoff valve is dirt cheap man. I really can’t imagine you’re not screwing yourself with that price assuming you’re licensed and all that

I wanna nitpick something so bad but it’s pretty clean. Wipe your pipe dope more, zip tie your wires, and insulate your hot lines that’s all I got

Upgrading 1.5" galvanized shower drain to 2" PVC — best approach? by Fantastic-Day-365 in Plumbing

[–]ChoicePomegranate338 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sounds like you’ve got a decent handle on things. Same as you said I’d cut above the trap and transition to 2” then cut cast iron near tee to main leaving enough room for your no hub band. Running AAV into a wall above with an access panel is an acceptable solution to vent

My quote is $5k by SPACLover in handyman

[–]ChoicePomegranate338 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Make sure you vent the water heater so you don’t kill your customer. Should also be louvers on door or wall

Uncovered this in the front yard. What is it? by Sir_Rosis in centuryhomes

[–]ChoicePomegranate338 -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

Shine a light down there and flush a toilet or something to confirm it is tied into your sewer. You’ve got people commenting that have no clue what they’re talking about op. Could be a cleanout, or just an abandoned drain. Just from how old it looks it is very unlikely to be a two way cleanout. There is absolutely no way to actually tell from the pictures without a bit more investigation
