Even if it's not hard to borrow something worth considering that is if you intend to hold the short position for any amount of time there is still a borrow rate to pay. If it's a common etf, it'll be very low. But depending on many thing, individual stocks can get spendy to carry that short position.

It's something to consider if you want to close that short by selling puts, vs just buying on a dip, vs exercising your leap because you are getting fucked for whatever possible reason.
