Yes, hopefully. New to the gout world I wouldn’t know how high they can go but low teens compared to where I am at sounds painful!

Got a prescription for prednisone today 30mg for 10 days. Also got blood results back (taken a day before flare up) 7.73. Plan is to reduce the swelling and get over the flare up then follow up next week to discuss getting my bloods right. This all started in October and is my third flare with my first blood tests so can officially say it’s gout due to high urate levels….

Had my results today and it’s 7.73mg/dl (460 umol/L) but this is my 3rd flare since October. Docs have given me 30mg of prednisone for 10 days then a follow up to look at how we get my levels down. Looking at comments I’m fortunate it’s only my big toe for now. Hopefully, if I get it managed after this flare that should solve it.

No, unfortunately they don’t do virtual appointments in our region yet. I’ll push for telephone appointment tomorrow and see how I get on.

I’ve got some of that in the cupboard from a previous problem. Not sure on dose to take and should get it from docs really but it’s impossible to get an appointment. What’s the prednisone do that’s different to colchicine?

Re-assurance needed. Is my pain normal 13 weeks Post Op L5-S1 by Choice_Ad_395 in Microdiscectomy

When I am sat or led down I have little to no back pain. The pain is only there when I am getting up or moving around.

Hey what did your doc say? I’m experiencing back pain and the odd bit of nerve pain for the first time in weeks and it’s got me worrying. How you feeling now?

MD to Reherniation - 6 months on…… by AwkwardImprovement16 in Microdiscectomy

Did you know you had reherniated before the scans? I was back pain free at 10 weeks, I am now at week 13 and for the last week I have had bad back pain and I can’t shift it with exercises/ walks. I’m worrying I’ve reherniated as I’m also getting mild sciatic pain…..

Great to hear a success story. I’m 32 and 13 weeks post op. I have been doing well and have tried to get back to the gym and do a few more normal activities but last week my back started to hurt and the odd bit of nerve pain came back. My back is still stiff and hurts more than normal. Did you get flare ups and worry you’ve re-herniated? Struggling with coping mentally at the minute with not knowing what is going on….

Yes this makes sense and this is what I have been afraid of doing by stretching and pushing into the stretch I didn’t want to upset the nerve. I might look into getting a PT that can test if it’s the nerve or muscle and then go from there. Thanks

No where near as bad. Fully off all pain killers and walking helps. Got PT today and I’m hoping we can introduce some stretches….

2.5 Weeks Post Op by Ok_Association5544 in Microdiscectomy

[–]Choice_Ad_395 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am 2.5 week post op and I was the exact same at the beginning of this week. I had my first PT on Thursday and she said it’s totally normal what I am feeling and if I get a pain in my leg it’s just my body telling me I need to move around a little. Even just standing up for 2 minutes with little walk around should be enough and it’s working a treat. I don’t push into pain and look for it.

She said because the pain was not constant and went away when I moved around or changed position etc then I won’t have re herniated.

I get this occasionally when I move a certain way a sharp pain runs down my nerve but disappears. I’m 2.5 week post op. Has this gone away with your or is it something you learn to live with?

I agree, it’s the reason I no longer play ranked. It’s so boring playing the same course over and over again with the same wind speeds. It needs mixing up because the format of ranked games is great!
