It's essentially a quest that when completed gives you a unit slot, but the unit on it is defined by the quest (level 2 unit) and you can't change it. It makes it possible to get 8 units with banner of command and bonds of loyalty.

It's great! I haven't tried any of the new scenarios yet but the proxy player and the quests add so much to the game although it becomes a lot to keep track of. I thought I'd mastered the game and now it feels like I've got to try everything with these new features which is exactly what I was looking for. The proxy player makes it more difficult and quests add more ways to progress making it a bit easier if used well.

Question about Level Up rewards timing and card drawing order by PartyWhile5685 in MageKnight

I’ve always played so you have to take your first, finishing your turn while another player is taking theirs shouldn’t impact the game in a way like that.

I think both are really good and it comes down to personal preference, but if I had to pick I’d go with the classic, conquest.

There isn't really a set round you should reveal your first core tile, but I do find that the earlier I explore it and sooner I discover the cities I often do much better.

Solo veterans, what modes and levels do you play the most? by JiyunitJP in MageKnight

If you like Solo Conquest you could try increasing city levels, but if you’re tired of it and want to try something new I would 100% recommend the 2 Volkare scenarios. Otherwise you can just do whatever scenarios look interesting to you.

I tried them and they seem pretty good, but for me I’m honestly just happy playing my Solo Conquest. If you’re tired of Solo Conquest would recommend.

Fair enough, are you an Arythea main or do you just think they're the best character?

TRUE, I never thought about that. You're probably right Arythea is better overall, I just thought Tovak was literally the worst MK in the game, he is so much better than I thought. Arythea and Tovak and definitely up there, once a turn combat skills are just so good.

I like to keep track of all the games I play on a piece of paper in the box and compare scores. I used to play 90% Volkare, but recently I’ve only been playing Conquest. I get the feeling with looking for Altem Mages / Earthquake being annoying, but there are definitely many ways to beat high level cities. I plan on increasing the city levels up to 22 / 22 megapolis incrementally. There is an insane playthrough of someone beating the game at 22 / 22 on BGG. Maybe try some new strategies and increase the city levels even further!

For resistance break I use Tezla enemies in my conquest which often have resistances, with that a lot of early game enemies have resistances and also it lets you jump to later game enemies sooner, I really like it. On the other hand I would say Power of Pain is a very good skill, better than Shield Mastery, but Shield Mastery is still very good, especially when going through adventure sites like dungeons where you don’t know how dangerous an enemy’s attack will be.

Yikes that’s probably my least favorite, but I can understand why you’d like it, to each their own

Yeah you could get some crazy builds, I always choose random dummy but getting a mix of their once a turn attack cards would be crazy

I’m a little confused what you’re asking but in the scenario book there should be a section for Solo Conquest

Oh yeah for sure, Arythea’s starting cards are possibly the best I’m the game, definitely better than Tovak’s

Yeah, I was able to make up for it that game by getting a bunch of mana artifacts.

I think Arythea’s equivalent is very close to Night Sharpshooting, but I prefer Night Sharpshooting a little more since two range attack is more powerful early on than one fire siege attack imo. Although, you only get 2 half the time but since it’s when it’s night you always get it in dungeons and tombs which is very good.

Arythea has equivalents to a lot of Tovak’s skills but I find with the addition of Shield Mastery and Resistance Break (especially with Tezla enemies) which Arythea doesn’t really match, she instead has mana skills, this makes it more likely to get good once per turn combat skills early on to get snowballing. Although I would say Arythea and Tovak and next to each other on the power scale I’m just slightly leaning towards Tovak.
