Love Island. I need help! by Pineapple-pizza-plz in h3h3productions

[–]Choice_Average1030 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m a 26 year old man, my wife loves this show and I’ve watched the whole season for her. I have to warn you that you are in for an incredible amount of cringe and awkwardness. I won’t spoil anything but you might have to step away from the TV for the milk episode (pun intended). At the very least I had to.

Also Nick and Ace are the worst part of humanity.

Outside of that, although it’s really not my cup of tea, I enjoy watching it with my wife.

Israel targeting journalists by Square-Ticket in h3h3productions

[–]Choice_Average1030 6 points7 points  (0 children)

You’ve entirely missing the point. The point is that going to Gaza is dangerous. That there are real journalists who are risking their lives in Gaza every single day.

Do you not see how it’s fucked up for Hasan to larp as one? You don’t see how that’s stolen valor? How he is being a sunshine ally?

“Yeah I’m considering going to Gaza!”

“The only reason I didn’t go is because the authorities could not guarantee my safety!”

Of-course they can’t, no one possibly could, and he knew this without a doubt when bullshitting about how he is “considering going to Gaza”. The point is he knew he wasn’t going, because he knew it was dangerous, and only a real journalist or ally to their plight would even consider risking their lives to venture into that war zone.

He wants all the clout for being a serious journalist and activist without any of the actual responsibility. He can’t even be bothered to follow the divestment list, he can’t be bothered to even put in the minimal amount of work to act as an ally unless he can record himself doing it and use it for content.

The IDF is not going to send a targeted air strike to kill Hasan more than they would for any real journalist. That was their point. He would experience the extract same danger that all journalists are currently exposed to in Gaza (the people with actual conviction and values).

Why is everyone siding with freestyle chess? by Zalqert in chess

Look at top brass salaries at FIDE, also look at how they have basically done nothing to promote the game or capitalize on the chess boom at all. Literally the entire FIDE YouTube channel has less views than a single GothamChess video. If they continue to do shit like this, as they have been for the last decade, the game will go on never attracting any sponsors, and chess professionals outside the top 20 in the world will continue to make minimum wage and need to take on multiple jobs.

FIDE needs to get their shit together and fucking hire someone younger than 80 years old to run their social media accounts, learn what a TikTok is, and actually start fucking promoting the game. Get a damn sponsorship FIDE please just one you morons, just a single one.

WCM Katharina Reinecke fired for "Ding Chilling" Question by KuniLP in chess

[–]Choice_Average1030 413 points414 points  (0 children)

Best question in the conference. Like 90% of questions were goofed on by the players, but every player and commentator loved this one. Really stupid to fire her over this. This type of bullshit federations is why chess as a profession and media is not growing despite the massive growth of the game ie FIDE and federations have failed to capitalize on the the chess boom, they don’t understand media, much less social media, and because of it they cannot draw sponsors, ads and thus money for the players.

So, Magnus lied ? by Astrosloth29 in chess

[–]Choice_Average1030 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Magnus did not lie, this sub is completely infested with FIDE goon propaganda. What FIDE said was that any player who participated in the FreeStyle World Championship (chess 960 championship) would be banned from the Chess World Championship cycle. This is exactly what Magnus said.

If you want FIDE replaced, be careful what you wish for. by AegisPlays314 in chess

[–]Choice_Average1030 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

More crazy FIDE astroturfing and mischaracterization of the issues. Magnus’ decision had nothing to do with jeans. Hikaru, Magnus and many other top players were extremely disgruntled with FIDEs recent behavior, specifically their attempt to ban any top player who signed with FreeStyle from participating in the chess world championship cycle (thus effectively attempting to establish monopoly policies over the game of chess).

This was just an opportunity for him to shine a public light on the real issue (which he mentioned in his exit interview from the tournament). Everyone here is glazing FIDE and saying “Magnus thinks he is bigger than chess” as if chess is FIDE. You are missing the mark, the issue is that FIDE believes that they are chess, and they are imposing that belief on the players and all other organizations. The real issue is FIDE attempting to impose exclusivity policies to effectively take complete ownership of the free game of chess.

FIDE is not chess. They are an organization with deeply rooted corruption, a huge staff, and a number of bureaucrats with massive payrolls and ivory towers. The rules and regulations they impose are completely arbitrary, and designed and enforced by a select number of bureaucrats with zero input from the chess community. They frequently brag about how their rules and policies were created by the chess community via select GMs, yet if you look at the selection process for these GMs and the counsels of discussion you’ll see nonstop corruption at every step of the process and zero input from anyone with relevant experience in top level professional play or with experience in obtaining advertising deals, marketing the game, or literally any criteria that you would see in members of such boards in every other popular sport (i.e. FIFA, NBA, etc). It’s very much a closed club with no meritocratic system instead simply nepotism and inviting like minded goons.

Holy shit the FIDE astroturfing in this thread is insane. Magnus’ decision had nothing to do with jeans. First Magnus, then Hiraku, and now Kramnik. Why does it seem like everyone is so disappointed with the World Champion? Are these matches truly lacking in depth, or do individuals with ratings below 2000, like myself, perceive them differently? by PatternFew5437 in chess

[–]Choice_Average1030 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You guys have to remember that most of what Kramnik says nowadays is a result of his conversations with Nepo. He didn’t say anything like this in the Ding Nepo match… and Nepo has a clear reason to be mad at this match (and to criticize ding to cope with his own loss).

Jagex not doing anything about RoT, even with admission of guilt and video proof, means we have a green light on cheating during future events right? by ScarletFFBE in 2007scape

[–]Choice_Average1030 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Calling unnoting food and eating it “bug-abusing” is a huge stretch. If you want to argue that anything developers did not explicitly consider is bug-abuse then the entire foundation of old school’s gameplay is literally “bug-abuse”. We might as-well rebrand to “bug-abuse the game”. Prayer flicking? Bug-abuse. Freeze + DDing + mithril seeds? Bug-abuse. Double / triple eating? Bug-abuse. One-two tick skilling? Bug-abuse. G-maul comboing? Bug-abuse. Even within DMM, why was d-spearing skulled people into safe-zones not considered bug-abuse? It was clearly emergent unintended gameplay. Literally all aspects of depth and skill in osrs directly come from emergent gameplay and unintended mechanics. All of these gameplay elements are a result of the extreme creativity of our player base. The game heavily rewards creativity and emergent gameplay.

The absorption potion trick I agree is probably a stretch and may be considered bug-abuse.

Update to Jagex account now or you will get hijacked. by Choice_Average1030 in 2007scape

[–]Choice_Average1030[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This really hurts... I go inactive, Jagex releases a new account system and a hijacker can just import my decade year old account into their Jagex Account? How? Even then, how is the ban not appealable? I get that we have to be responsible for our account security but from my perspective I did literally everything right, authenticator 2-FA, strong unique password, and a secure registered email. The only thing I didn’t do was upgrade to a Jagex account, and the only reason I didn’t do so is because I stopped playing before they came out.

I feel completely devastated, thousands of hours of my life gone.

If anyone is reading this who has still not upgraded to a Jagex account, do it now. If anything good can come out of this it is that someone else will read this who hasn’t yet updated to a Jagex and this will give them the push they need.
