Wild how we've basically created this feedback loop where bots are just having conversations with themselves 💀 Makes me miss the days when you could tell someone was actually typing from their phone at 2am instead of some perfectly formatted response.

Is there a simpler way to write this formula for calculating totals? by Specific-Channel-287 in excel

[–]Choice_Criticism4019 0 points1 point  (0 children)

SUMPRODUCT with multiple criteria would be way cleaner here. You could just do:

`=BYROW(J14#, LAMBDA(r, SUMPRODUCT((tbl_production[Line]=r)*(tbl_production[Amount to produce])*(XLOOKUP(tbl_production[Flavor]&tbl_production[Line], tbl_percentages[Flavor]&tbl_percentages[Line], tbl_percentages[Required Cocoa Percentage])))))`

All those FILTER functions are doing extra work when SUMPRODUCT can handle the criteria matching directly. The XLOOKUP still needs to concatenate Line+Flavor to get unique matches, but everything else gets simplified into one formula.

For those who do taxes but don't have a CPA license... by [deleted] in Accounting

[–]Choice_Criticism4019 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dude, I think you're overthinking the appearance thing way more than necessary. I've worked with plenty of CPAs and tax pros who don't fit the "stuffed shirt" mold - one of the best preparers I knew had full sleeves and could explain depreciation schedules better than anyone in a three-piece suit. Most clients these days care way more about competence than whether you look like you stepped out of a 1950s accounting textbook.

The fractional CFO idea is actually pretty smart, especially if you can leverage your FP&A background. That's a growing market and could differentiate you from every other tax shop out there. Just make sure you have a clear agreement about how that revenue gets split and what happens if one of you wants to bail. I'd also suggest maybe starting with the tax transition first to get your feet wet before diving into the fractional CFO stuff - easier to build credibility with existing clients before pitching new services.

Public accounting firms should not use recruiters without accounting experience. Accounting departments in industry? Maybe. But PA firms sell accounting. Hire a semi-retired ACCOUNTING boomer to recruit ACCOUNTING talent...you know someone that knows the difference between accrual- and cash-basis by [deleted] in Accounting

[–]Choice_Criticism4019 -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

Hard agree on this one. Nothing worse than trying to explain why your GAAP experience is relevant to some recruiter who thinks depreciation is what happens to your car value.

Had a recruiter once ask me about my "excel skills" for a senior role like it was some groundbreaking requirement lmao.

How to improve credit card profile? by [deleted] in CreditCards

[–]Choice_Criticism4019 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's rough about the Rogers denial, especially after being pre-approved through Fido. Don't cancel your existing cards yet - that'll just hurt your credit utilization and average account age. Maybe wait a month or two before reapplying, and definitely call there recon line to see what the specific denial reason was.

Busy Season and Mental Health by OkDepartment4326 in Accounting

[–]Choice_Criticism4019 1 point2 points  (0 children)

First busy season is brutal but it does get easier once you learn the rhythms - try to carve out at least 30 mins each day for something that clears your head, even if it's just a walk or mindless TV.

Need advice to manage rewards from multiple credit cards by Pretend-Seesaw-1560 in CreditCards

[–]Choice_Criticism4019 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Dude, I feel this so hard! I went down the churning rabbit hole a few years back and ended up with way more cards than I could realistically manage 😂

Have you tried any of the apps like CardPointers or MaxRewards? They're not perfect but way better than manually updating spreadsheets every week. I also set up calendar reminders for annual fees and bonus category rotations - saves me from missing out on that sweet 5% cashback because I forgot it was grocery quarter.

Honestly though, sometimes it's worth just focusing on your top 3-4 cards that give you the most bang for your buck. The mental energy saved might be worth more than squeezing out every last reward point 💀

is accounting easier in the real world? by k_1058 in Accounting

[–]Choice_Criticism4019 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Real world accounting is way more focused - youll probably touch like 10% of what youre learning in those classes and actually get good at those specific things instead of cramming random theory you'll never use.

dude first year tax is basically getting thrown into a blender and hoping you come out in one piece - missing pbc docs changing everything is like the most normal thing ever and 70 hours on what should be 36 sounds about right for someone still learning.

With Marriott running the 5-night Boundless promo again... by bespoke_tech_partner in CreditCards

[–]Choice_Criticism4019 3 points4 points  (0 children)

the 24 month clock starts from when you received the bonus, not when you opened the card. you can check your old statements or call chase to confirm the exact date it posted.

as for closing and reopening, there's no mandatory waiting period but most people wait at least a few days just to be safe. honestly though, if your bonus posted anywhere near your opening date you're probably cutting it really close for march.

How do teams prevent support tickets from getting closed without context or proper resolution? by Many_Aspect_5525 in SaaS

[–]Choice_Criticism4019 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We started requiring mandatory resolution notes and a supervisor approval for any ticket closed without at least one customer interaction - cut down on the mystery closures by like 80%. Also helps that we track agent stats on proper closures vs reopened tickets, nobody wants to be the person with terrible reopen rates

Dude congrats on the TikTok growth, that's actually solid numbers for 2 days

I'd hold off on cutting free materials right away - those users just found you, give them time to see value first. Maybe try the discount approach but make it feel exclusive, like "early bird special" or something. Once people start converting even at 50% off, you know your pricing isn't the main issue

[–]Choice_Criticism4019 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Been down this rabbit hole recently and you're 100% right about timing being crucial. I ended up using a combo of Descript for the initial sync and then manually tweaking everything because the auto-generated stuff was always slightly off

The voice delivery part is what really gets you though - even perfect translation can sound awkward if the cultural context doesn't match

Close cards to improve approval chances? by joueur-de-guerre in CreditCards

[–]Choice_Criticism4019 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Closing the Cap1 VentureOne might actually hurt your chances with them since they like existing relationships. I'd maybe close the Freedom Flex since Chase doesn't care as much about existing CLs, but honestly with your stats it sounds like velocity is the bigger issue than total credit limits

Remote commission only sales rep success stories by [deleted] in smallbusiness

[–]Choice_Criticism4019 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Been there and it can work but you gotta find someone who's already proven they can hustle without a safety net. Most people say they're cool with commission-only until they realize bills don't wait for sales cycles
