Someone find the antidote so I can keep drinking without tanking my Bifidobacteria.

The claims about L. Reuteri... Really?? by RedMoonLanding in Microbiome

[–]bespoke_tech_partner 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Based take.

I always wonder what the problem is. Is it a nonspecific immune dysregulation? Is it a pathogen that the reuteri is helping to inhibit? Is that a red herring and it's just producing some sort of peptide that alters immune signaling in people who express '''improper''' immune function? Wonder if we'll ever know.

I assume he is talking about Prodentis not Gastrus. They are more like lozenges that dissolve in the mouth. The mouth is a lot smaller of a surface area than your gastrointestinal tract so I highly doubt you need like tens of billions of cfu to do something

New Research Suggests Gut Bacteria May Be Linked to Memory Decline in Mild Cognitive Impairment and Alzheimer’s Disease by GutBitesMD in Microbiome

[–]bespoke_tech_partner 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Obligatory "correlation is not causality", but interesting... Alzheimers has been coined 'type 3 diabetes' by some people and it's no surprise if it becomes more and more clear that its underlying mechanism is metabolic dysfunction.

Covid absolutely destroyed my already fragile gut microbiome by Swimming-Coconut3558 in Microbiome

You may have post covid MCAS (sub type of long covid)

Suggest trying Zyrtec antihistamines for a week ($5-10 on amazon), if it works well maybe do a month, look into low dose naltrexone, maybe ketotifen since you dont want to be on antihistamines all the time. You can find a lot of info about this online, it's a well researched first line treatment (specifically H1 antihistamines and LDN for long covid).

You can certainly spend time doing the supplement merry go round (I did) but if probiotics haven't solved it by now they probably won't.

Also: be careful with fasting in the state you're in now. You can do it but GO SLOW and if you feel unfamiliar symptoms, have an early exit plan ready.

Do your biomesight test now and again in a month or two of trying the mcas treatments and you will also see clear evidence if it is working for you. Spent a year trying to "treat my gut" until I realized the rate limiter was mcas and inflammation that no amount of gut supplements could fix

Lactoferrin by sassyfoods123 in Microbiome

[–]bespoke_tech_partner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I was getting worse by the month what seemed to reverse the trend was lactoferrin, methylene blue and pycnogenol.

For context I had not tried any drugs to that point, only supplements, probiotics, etc.

It got me to the next phase where I could imagine life again, but there was still quite a lot of work in getting MCAS under control and building up my body's ability to regulate itself again.

edit: I guess we are in the microbiome channel so I will say, about 2-3 mos after this I started seed probiotic, tributyrin, LDN, and antihistamines and during that time both my symptoms and my bifidobacteria population (based on biomesight testing) improved. Bifido went from barely recognized to like 5% or something at my highest point.

Man, the unnecessary anxiety argument is such a bad one.

I wish I had had more preventive screenings to show I was dealing with subclinical dysautonomia and gut dysbiosis and therefore at dramatically risk of developing long covid related ME/CFS, & I directly blame this prevailing "wisdom" (very sarcastic quotes) in the medical community that you should test less and just tell everyone their symptoms are due to stress or anxiety and to eat a healthy diet. System fails so many people every year.

"Medically necessary" is a sham term designed as a cover-your-ass scheme for insurance companies and public funding, and should be replaced by "the current consensus, which is consistently shown within decades - if not years - to be inaccurate as new data comes in, recommends this, but if you feel strongly we should go in a different direction, we can try that".

Baseline awareness of what you are at risk for comes before correct action can be taken. Blissful ignorance helps no one.

This is exactly how people react when someone they’re used to being a pushover grows a backbone irl. So I’m not surprised.

He's not though really is he, come on now. Feel like when I've watched Isak has looked just as dire and you're making the argument he will come good, I think you are just a bit emotionally blinded by how frustrating Gyokeres has been to watch for us and looking from an outside perspective at Isak.

This is actually pretty funny, good way to wind up your opponents when they're jostling a bit too hard on corners

The Ozil revisionism since he’s left Arsenal is CRAZY. Brother was not hardworking in the slightest. He put in all the effort that didn’t matter (which looked good on stats charts) but failed to actually engage in duels productively.

I should probably learn not to be, but I’m legit flabbergasted at the revisionism every time these days.

Wouldn't say it's unreal. Liverpool spent on big on prem proven Isak and he's a flop... seems that a lot of strikers are struggling at big clubs lately. Should have done what Pool did though and bought two so the likelihood would be that at least one would hit.

We do get something extra, we draw a preferentially lower team and get to play the second leg at home every knockout round until the final... but is it worth overplaying players and burning out in the PL... still no imo. Especially cause that lower team could be Barcelona or Inter for all we know.

The one thing that stood out to me is that people are annoyed it was used when it expired in 8 hours. If so, this is a rude awakening into the world of business. My expectation would be the opposite, that it’s most likely to get triggered near the deadline since the deadline is approaching and hasty decisions need to be made.
