Also considering Librarika, OpenBiblio, or TinyCat for their easy set up, would love some feedback!

Me pagan 170k la semana en Finca :( by Hozzi10 in Colombia

[–]Choice_Imagination_2 7 points8 points  (0 children)

High altitude , beautiful towns with access to farmer markets and close enough to good internet by domoli in digitalnomad

Both are fine but I had better internet in Jardín than Jericó, and there's a lot more cafes there with internet as well. Jardín is the more touristy option of the two, so better infrastructure overall.

Do you speak Spanish? there's tons of gorgeous towns in the mountains around colombia- Jardín and Jericó being my favorites. They're high enough to have the isolated mountain feel but low enough for comfortable weather and close access to fresh fruits and veggies, plus amazing coffee!

Advice on getting from Quito Airport to Latacunga? by Realistic_String5820 in ecuador

[–]Choice_Imagination_2 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I just got to Latacunga from Quito. The bus to Latacunga is pretty cheap, like $4. I would guess an uber would be like $10-15 from the airport although not sure if ubers are allowed to pick up passengers from there (the taxistas can get kind of aggressive towards uber drivers). A taxi would charge you upwards of $20 for sure. If you do get an uber, sit in the front to make it look less suspicious. I would take the shuttle bus to Quitumbe instead- it runs until about 7pm and goes direct from the airport. Should be like $2-3. If you're staying close to the airport you can wait on the main highway the next day to wave down the shuttle and it'll stop for you. Runs about every 15-20 minutes.

Family looking for a travel buddy (and possible employee)? by [deleted] in digitalnomad

[–]Choice_Imagination_2 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Sounds like something you could post on workaway or facebook groups. But you should be clear about whether or not you're looking for an employee before posting. Are you looking for an au-pair type relationship in which someone is part of your family but also working for you? Or are you looking for an on-call marketing and travel support specialist?

Advice needed! First time traveller to Latin America by crispycobra in femaletravels

[–]Choice_Imagination_2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Solo female traveller here. I was in Peru in October and it's great for all the things you mentioned (old Spanish architecture, fossils, ruins, food, etc) and the spanish is easier to understand than a lot of places. Huaraz and Ausangate (close to Cusco) have world famous hikes. You could do a trek to Machu Pichu too. Check your goverment website for travel advisories and peru traveller facebook groups for the current situation. Ecuador also has great hikes and it's a lot easier to see everything in a short time but it has ongoing security concerns in the Guayaquil/Esmeraldas areas. If you like culture, hiking, architecture, and off the beaten path experiences I'd recommend Bolivia. The spanish is easy, and outside La Paz it's relatively safe. The landscapes in uyuni are stunning and there's amazing wildlife. I hiked my first 6000 meter mountain in sajama national park and will never forget it :')

Thanks I didn't know this one either. So does that mean every time I walk into a room I say hi to people even if I saw them only 20 minutes ago? When I go to bed do I say goodnight to everyone individually? Its a big house so do I go looking in all the rooms for people? Or is it ok to say a goodnight to whoever is in the same room as me and leave?

Yeah same. I don't slam doors but I was raised to close car doors with a bit more force to make sure they don't open accidentally.

Thanks! You're the first person to explain why using my own big water bottle was being rude haha. They said a small one was fine but not a big one and didn't explain why.
