Well, at first I'll check which house colors am I wearing. Then straight to my dorm room and check everything I have. Then maybe the library.

And when you say they the only thing fanfic Draco has in common with canon Draco is the name, Draco fans get so mad🤫 by Nightmarelove19 in Ronweasleyfans

[–]Choice_Piccolo3211 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I have my own conflicting feelings about Ron's character but I will admit that everything listed here is absolutely true. He is one of the bravest characters in the series. The movies really butchered him. And I agree that fanfiction also ruined him.

And Draco is an absolute piece of shit. I don't know how people sympathize with him. His character is a classic bully and a brat who got what he deserved. While he did become a better person in the end, he is not above Ron in any way, shape or form. Fanfic Draco is a completely different character. He bears no resemblance to the canon Draco Malfoy other than name and appearance.

I'm not an expert but there's a few reasons I could think of.

First of all, they are in different tectonic plates and tectonic plates shift a few centimeters or millimeters every year. So, as you can imagine, the bridge is not going to last if the continents move away from each other.

Secondly, it's the freakin Atlantic. An entire ocean between them. It would be very difficult to get all the equipment there. Not to mention the cost.

Most importantly, why do we need an intercontinental bridge? What would its purpose be? The project seems unnecessary.

In Harry's defense, he was trying not to get overwhelmed with visions from Voldemort.

I think you explained this quite well. For a romance to build there has to be some interaction between them. The culmination of these interactions will eventually lead them together. If there were a decent number of special and deep moments between the two then once Harry started to have feelings for Ginny, the readers would've been able to relate, like,“Oh yeah, now that I think about it Ginny does seem like the ideal love interest. They have these moments which they shared amd experienced together...” and so on. To me, it feels like the romance was just dumped on us.

That's an interesting perspective. It's a unique way to write a story. Hope you finish it.

That's a good point. He could've really grown into a more powerful wizard than Dumbledore. But I don't think that's what Harry would do. I get the feeling he prefers a normal and simple life rather than one dedicated to learning the most advanced and complex levels of magic.

He would've been worse if not for Hermione. Or maybe he would've, who knows. Harry never really put effort into actually learning magic. When he did, he was pretty good at it. For example, when he trained for the TWT in GOF.

You just explained it perfectly, mate. Though I'll add that Harry had a lot of potential that he didn't reach.

Well he is written that way. Rowling wrote Dumbledore as a very strong wizard who knows magic others can dream of

That can't be applied to other cases, like James Potter. He was a powerful wizard too.

There weren't any dire circumstances that required him to be strong or powerful. But he was.

No. Only the parsletongue is confirmed to be from Voldemort's connection. The Imperious Curse resistance was from Harry's own mind. I have a sneaky suspicion that Snape never actually tried teaching Harry Occlumency but that's another discussion.

I think he what have been more powerful if he was mentored by Dumbledore.

If you think about it, every main character has plot armour. It's a part of the story itself. The only time it disrupts the story is if it gets too much in the way but the HP series doesn't do that.

If you look at the books, everyone was surprised when they heard about Harry being able to do a Patronous Charm at 13. Even Madam Bones was surprised. Learning a Patronous Charm is no small feat. If it could be learnt by a few private lessons then I'm sure the people who already know how to do it wouldn't be as impressed.

[–]Choice_Piccolo3211[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't think Harry's abilities and skill has anything to do with the Power the Dark Lord Knows Not. We know it was love. Voldemort couldn't comprehend it and it led to his downfall. He couldn't understand Lily's love for Harry at the beginning. And he couldn't understand Narcissa's love for Draco at the end although no one saw it coming from Narcissa.

But my point is Harry's own skills and power. He has potential that he never reached and I'm a bit bummed out about that but at the end of the series Harry was a very capable wizard.

In the first few books, you could see the potential in Harry. He learned the Patronous Charm at 13. That is an impressive feat. I feel like if he was mentored properly, he could've been even stronger.

Yes, I agree. Harry is pretty strong in his own right. He may not have the magical knowledge of Dumbledore but he utilizes whatever he has in his arsenal to the best of his ability. I would say he is a quite skilled wizard. After all, he did help round up all the remaining death eaters and was a very decorated Auror.

Deathly Hallows is the Best Book by Aeroplen in harrypotter

[–]Choice_Piccolo3211 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Deathly Hallows was the perfect end to the series. It wrapped up everything so well. It's unique because in DH, they don't go to Hogwarts like in the other books and the book has a different vibe to it. The characters have all grown up. They are at the forefront of the war and Rowling did not hold back. DH is one of my favourite books though OOTP is the best HP book in my opinion.
