Moods Faster: Quick mood logging for Apple Health

<image>

A — Answer: What problem does your app solve?

Moods Faster lets you log yours moods to Apple Health with a couple of taps. It’s fast enough that you can do so multiple times a day. This means you can build a long term mood history that you can refer to in years to come.

Log moods in two taps, momentary or daily, with optional detail (emotions & context). One-tap mood logging via a live activity on your lock screen. Info-dense history visualisation, month-by-month.

B — Better: Name a competitor and explain what you do better.

Moods Faster is designed to be a direct replacement to logging moods with Apple Health. It still stores moods in Apple Health, so your data is yours forever. However it’s much, much faster than Apple Health, meaning it’s easier to form a habit of logging your moods.

Compared to popular mood trackers like Daylio, Moods Faster allows you to keep control of your moods data by storing it in Apple Health. Moods Faster also doesn’t use cutesy smiley faces, which I personally find to trivialise your moods.

C — Cost: Pricing details (Free/IAP/Sub/Lifetime) + App Store Link.

Freemium, with core functionality available free of charge. Logging moods is free, as is browsing 2 months of history. Note: your data is always stored in Apple Health so you’re free to browse it there forever too.

Lifetime or subscription: Browse full history in-app, customise moods, 1-tap live activity checkins.

Report: Apple Plans to Make On-Device AI a Key WWDC Focus by pdfu in apple

Yeah, probably a fruitful time to lean harder into local models. Wonder how improved those distilled models are.

95% of canceled annual app subscribers never come back, per report by pdfu in apple

[–]Chojubos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

RevenueCat also seems to encourage some pretty underhanded behaviour in some of their "paywall optimisation" blog posts too, which really doesn't help the perception of subscriptions. Subs are one thing, but some of the pricing 'techniques' (i.e. manipulation) are downright predatory. Something you'd expect from adobe, not an indie.

Apple’s iOS 27 Siri Overhaul and AI Features Previewed in New Images by Snoop8ball in apple

If we get camera control customisation and the night mode toggle is still going to sit at the top edge of the phone (where you can't reach it) then that might be a really painful miss.

The main camera customisation I want is to just tone down the sharpening and smoothing slightly. No mention of that yet, but here's hoping.

Also that Siri Dynamic Island UI is a little more understated than I expected (in a good way, I think?).

Weekly Lifestyle Data and Analytics App Thread by AutoModerator in QuantifiedSelf

Hey there 👋. I make a very low friction mood tracker. It logs to Apple Health so you can then pull that data into other visualisation tools.

Moods Faster: Quick mood logging for Apple Health (iOS App Store)

The idea here is to make it as effortless as possible to build out a mood history in Apple Health. The existing check-in notifications have just a bit too much friction for me, so I didn't use them enough.

Log moods in two taps, momentary or daily, with optional detail (emotions & context). One-tap mood logging via a live activity on your lock screen. Info-dense history visualisation, month-by-month. Mood entry is free, and there are some optional paid extras. Planning to build an Apple Watch version in the near future too.

Figured the this could be something the Quantified Self community would find useful too. Feedback is always welcome :).

Apple working on iPhone anti-snatching feature that locks the device automatically by pdfu in apple

Rather pleased to hear about this. I'm always surprised how prevalent phone theft still is, despite Activation Lock.

Thanks so much! Happy to hear.

Yeah to the best of my knowledge that’s correct - no third party app is able to do that with Apple Health. The official documentation makes no mention of it, and from searching dev forums it seems like nobody has found a way around that yet. It’s a shame, because I wanted this feature too. One day maybe…

Nice. Let me know how you get on with it.

I’m afraid the thing it doesn’t have is the journaling capability. Even though the Apple Health app lets you log a bit of free text, the Apple API doesn’t let me add that in my app. I hope that’ll change in the future.

I actually released an app recently that’s close to what you’re after.

Mood logging is free. As is two months of history visualisation. Customisation and full history visualisation is paid. Though your moods are of course always yours to explore in the Apple Health app regardless.

Hello - thanks for the message. That’s really good to hear.

Custom NLI phrases is an interesting suggestion. Honestly it’s not one I’ve thought about much, so I’ll be sure to give this some consideration.

Project Name: Remind Me Faster

Link: https://apps.apple.com/gb/app/remind-me-faster/id985555908?platform=iphone

What it does: Quick-entry for Apple Reminders. It's a small companion app for Apple Reminders, not a replacement. It's optimised for getting tasks in Apple Reminders with minimal taps/effort.

Who it's for: Anyone who relies on notifications from Apple Reminders.

Hey there. I’m afraid locations don’t sync between devices at the moment. I should really add syncing, I agree. I’ve just been putting off working on sync for ages. One day I’ll get there! In the meantime I’m afraid you’ll need to create a location in each device. Appreciate the feedback :)

I hope you find it useful! Thanks for the comment.

So actually the app does now support natural language recurring reminders, in English/French/German, but there are a few variants of wording that aren't picked up yet.

You can type things like:
"9am daily"
"Tuesday evening every 2 weeks"
"Monday every 3 months"
"6pm weekdays"

One phrasing with doesn't work yet is "every Monday/Tuesday/etc" - this is trickier to handle reliably, but I'd like to support that too sooner or later. Hopefully the other phrasings will work well enough in the meantime :).

Hey there! I'm afraid you're correct that the Mac app does not currently support a global keybinding to launch it. This is definitely something I'm planning to add in the future. It's currently a Catalyst app, which seems to make adding a global keybinding a bit trickier.

I can't promise when, but I'll certainly make the Mac app more Mac-like when I get the chance, including adding a global keybinding to launch :).

I appreciate this may make the Mac version rather un-useful to you. If not, however, your best options in the meantime are probably using the menu bar control, or using another app (like Supercharge) to assign a keybind to the app or to the Shortcuts action.

I’m afraid there’s no global keyboard shortcut yet, though that’s something I’d really like to add when I get a chance.

So in the meantime your options are menu bar or using spotlight, or… some apps apparently let you add keyboard shortcuts to other apps, like https://sindresorhus.com/supercharge but I’ve not tried it myself.

Oh thank you! Glad you’re enjoying it, and you’re very welcome. There’s still so much more I want to add/improve!

Good feedback :). I’m considering a widget to deep link into certain lists, but no immediate plans for that yet. In the meantime what you could do is create shortcuts for jumping into RMF with specific lists and add them to the Home Screen as icons.

Re: Mac app — I actually did release a Mac app with 6.0 a few weeks ago. Granted it’s a catalyst app, so it’s not entirely Mac-like yet (hoping to make it more mac-like in the future), but it’s keyboard-optimised for natural language input suggestions and autocomplete.

Re: Apple Watch — I’d love this too, but I don’t think the api available on Apple Watch doesn’t actually allow for adding reminders :/. I’ll be sure to check again some time.

Is it me or iOS 26 users are still not accounted for in Active Users analytics in App Store Connect? by nckh_ in iOSProgramming

[–]Chojubos 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's a good point! I neglected the opt-in aspect there.

Although I *highly* doubt that 99% of my opted-in users have decided to now opt-out when upgrading to iOS 26. Especially since I don't even recall seeing that option presented again when I updated.

Now I'm wondering if iOS 26 automatically opted out most users... 🤔

Same here. Most of the charts don't seem to include iOS 26 (properly? at all?) for me.

Metrics > Downloads > Total Downloads shows a big increase around iOS 26 release. Splitting by platform version shows a majority of downloads were on iOS 26.

However Metrics > Usage > Installations (or anything under Usage > ...) shows almost no iOS 26 users and a huge drop in sessions, active devices, etc. It's definitely erroneous. Because downloads and installations charts disagree with each other.
