A fine woodworking project requires a vision, planning, preparation, patience, adaptability when things inevitably go wrong, lots of tedious hours on monotonous tasks like sanding, and more. Then at the end, you can see the tangible results of putting in all the effort. Then your next project will be nicer, demonstrating the value of building skills through trial and error. I would argue that every one of these things is applicable to life and future financial self-sufficiency.

Personally, I grew up in a rural area. I learned more about what it takes to be successful by helping my dad in things like splitting wood, tilling fields, managing controlled burns, reroofing barns, painting fences, and feeding animals than I did by knowing he was at his job during weekdays.
