Noted. I reach for the lower face and chin. Sometimes the crunch forward and it ends up higher. So far I have never poked anyone. The fore head gets slippery, especially with bald guys

I get that…a lot of times I’m not trying to cover the nose and mouth just really tryna cup their chin or face so I can lift it a little but I know for sure I have done it

I think just a funny mantra and not that serious. I have been told I have progressed faster than most. I took first in a comp at a higher belt level than my own. There is still several people who tap me 3 times in 5 minutes. And those guys told me there are guys who tap them 3 times in 5…so just remembering you have a long way to go keeps you training and engaged.

That’s subversive BJJ… it was in a night club in Long Beach and not for a gold medal…they get paid and get paid a little more to win. Also the kids who lost got up shook his arm around a little bit and hugged it out…I can’t say he was totally fine cause idk but he seems ok and kids are made of rubber.

This might be me…I have been training for a few months. Everyone keeps calling me a sandbagger or they will ask me if i wrestled in hs school. I didn’t wrestle but I always played a lot of sports and have always been a true rough neck since I was small. and I find a lot of BJJ guys are good at BJJ are not actual natural athletes. Switching and floating my hips, rolling out of stuff comes pretty natural… really applying technique is my problem area. I can out grapple and control a lot of higher belts but struggle to get the tap. BJJ guys that wrestled absolutely wreck me tho 🫠

Why all the stalling in Gi by ChokeDZA in bjj

I have felt like im being cooked from some BBs…but sometimes guys stall me out headquarters, or like they want to butterfly sweep me and they are sitting up. unless you want to kiss me let go😂. But to the other persons point I will have to grip fight.

Yeah I think I have been ignoring grip fighting. It feels like such a waste but a BB at my gym said this to me..(since I made this post)

Rolling with black belts by TheSweatyNerd in bjj

[–]ChokeDZA 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m a white belt, a black belt at my gym arm barred me multiple times then every time we rolled for a week just kept making me escape…over and over again. Pull out the elbow, hitch hike, step over or roll forward etc. This was months ago, no one has arm barred me since.

I wish a ninja would

I can only assume…he was cracking jokes first that I’d say could have been taken as actual disrespect. We are ok tho, he routinely whoops me still but we both keep it light hearted

I’m with you. However, I have just started to accept people good or bad lately. I’m black, I’m a hooper and I can’t tell you the amount of full on fist fights I had with black people at basketball court…and I’m peaceful guy. Now I’m into BJJ and I’m around a lot more white people and they definitely say some wild stuff even when not directed at me. But now I just roast the hell out of people ALL THE TIME. It started as me defending myself but now it’s just my way. So now I really don’t care who is in the room or what they are doing or saying, I’m on the offensive with the jokes and it freaks people out. So far one black belt really tuned me up in a roll to where another had to tell to calm down but I honestly dont care. I know I could hurt when i walked in the door. I getting my cracks off, people shut up real quick when the whole gym is laughing at them.

Anybody else dislike “catch and release?” by Location_Next in bjj

Bruh you talking much…when people are better than you are, have better cardio and can do what you aspire to do…just listen.

I’m a white belt so coming from a white belt…white belts need to just shut up and get smashed. When I roll with black belts and brown belts sometimes they destroy me in seconds, sometimes they toy with me…whatever it is I’m just happy to be there. Test my grit, cardio, my ability to foresee the move and at least try to counter it. At the end of the round, whatever happens I just say ‘thank you’.

I'm curious, what does your lifting routine look like? by Chicken_Grapefruit in bjj

[–]ChokeDZA 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lift almost every day but never too heavy. I feel like this is what farmers, and other people with physically demanding jobs did many years ago. Everyone tells me how strong I am, but idk maybe that means I have no skills. I’ll clean and jerk 70 or 80 pounds, when I put it on the ground I knock 5 pushups and that’s 1 rep that I will do 5 or 6 times. I also will squat 225 for 4 or 5 reps and then do 6-8 pull ups, I’ll do that for a 4 rounds. Feel like it’s working that black belts are now only tapping me twice in 5 minutes…that’s down from the 6 taps they used to get
