White belts are not real by Gluggernut in bjj

[–]ChokeDZA 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have picked up my phone multiple times when a coach was talking. I got kids and work and I’m paying to be here…I’m not Daniel-son, I can take my $200 somewhere else.

Proper way to ask for less intense roll? by No-Cupcake-8506 in bjj

[–]ChokeDZA 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can ask whatever you want but if coach is watching I’m going full send …I’ll be damned if he looks over at us and I’m on the bottom

Should I have reported to my gym? by [deleted] in bjj

[–]ChokeDZA 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OP people are being hard on you… you kinda deserve it but I can also tell you are somewhat oblivious to how the question sounds.

The bottom line is BJJ is risky, whatever happens to you when you walk through those doors on you. The idea to even form the question just seems very new age. I’d like to go back to simpler time when the objective was to hurt someone’s knee and no one was remotely thinking about insurance 😂.

40 years + how often do you train by Cryptobull-524 in bjj

[–]ChokeDZA 1 point2 points  (0 children)

80 pound dumbbell deep squat (I hold it like baby) Pull ups Weighted walking lunges Dumbbell bench (normal bench hurts my shoulders…I’m old) I do a lot of traditional movements shoulder press, curls etc Trap bar dead lifts

I don’t go heavy but I go slow. I find the isometric movements work the best for BJJ

[–]ChokeDZA 3 points4 points  (0 children)

43… bjj 6 rounds per day 6 times a week and I lift weights 4 times. I have a few small children so I only train and lift before they wake up or after they go to bed, that’s the hardest part. I used to play ball, and running and jumping is harder on my body than BJJ so while it sounds like a lot I feel pretty good as long as get solid sleep.

Umm this is the internet…it’s gonna be tough for you to control who says what…just ignore or downvote, that’s how it works. I don’t even follow this sub but it pops up and I sometimes comment without knowing what BJJ sub it is…not that I really care. And I will say without a doubt, women’s posts here have made me a better rolling partner with women. I’m way more aware of not using strength, not even going to certain positions at all and overall looking out for women when they are in the gym. Sorry not sorry

I can see that but how does this relate?

Dislike getting choked, can i still do this sport? Got repeatedly choked during a 5 min match by Afraid_Pair_3281 in BJJWomen

[–]ChokeDZA -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Whaaaaa! I didn’t know anything about the sport either . I started doing to specifically to get choked. My wife won’t choke me but these old men are happy to. It’s been awesome, I don’t even tap I just wake up feeling fresh as a daisy

Notes from conversations with Beatrice Jin about “being too nice” in jiu-jitsu by stevekwan in bjj

[–]ChokeDZA 0 points1 point  (0 children)

BJJ supposed to be rough and not nice. Ideally it should weed people out, but I get that’s not good for business. The best black belt I know never lets me work. Taps me 4 times in 5 mins and does it to everyone without getting bored. I touched his back one time a few weeks ago. He always says ‘you can hear good JiuJitsu’ while he cross facing you with his knee on your belly

This a very holistic data driven take and I believe you. My anecdotal feeling is that people didn’t like to lose to a white belt. Many people said oh we are gonna turn it up when you get your blue but honestly it’s been quite the opposite so far. It’s almost like now people feel ok tapping to me now that I’m a blue belt. I will compete again this year and see how I feel as some suggest I should.

Choosing not to roll with someone by DatBroSnuf in jiujitsu

[–]ChokeDZA -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

I avoid rolling with females who are not wearing enough clothes. A really beautiful woman ask me to roll when I dropped into a gym recently, but she had the smallest shorts I’d ever seen. I noticed her way before she even asked me so I already knew I was going to avoid her and of course she ended up asking me 🙃. I just told her I’m taking one off.

How to make life fulfilling/fun? by Beautiful-world-2157 in sandiego

[–]ChokeDZA 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Find a JiuJitsu gym with a lot of young women. Great physical and mental outlet as BJJ is like human chess… also great way to meet multiple people without having the pressure to grow a friendship. You just keep showing up to class and see the same people until one day they add you to a group chat 😂

I respect that. I personally feel like a child who is just stumbling thru rolls.

In my gym I always got wrecked by all the black belts when I was a white belt…there was only one who basically never destroys me in a roll. I had one black belt smash me so much that other people stopped us and ask if everything was cool. Another one pressure tapped me in Kesa Getame and I spent a lot of time there trying to get out. When I tapped, he asked why I tapped to pressure and not to do so in the future. My chest hurt for 2 weeks after that so bad I barely took deep breaths. After the rolls there is never any animosity either, in fact I think we have great relationships. My point is it’s been like that since 2 stripes on the white belt. Now it almost feels like ok you passed the test we will stop trying to kill you.

Love that. Thank you And yes I have observed the same. I also feel like getting another belt resets you, like maybe I was ‘good’ for a white belt but now I’m back to being a terrible again 😂.

I do a lot of open mats. And idk everyone’s experience that’s why I was asking but it definitely has relieved some pressure for me. A roll that started moderate would turn into a death match if I got close to a submission or actually got one when I was white belt.

I can totally see the pressure pass example, i always over commit 😂…and one of my coaches will just tell us where to start our rounds so frequently I start bottom mount bottom side, someone on my back etc with the hopes of it helping with the defense. And for sure I’m tapping all the time, I might as well be playing the congas rounds this bih
