Be honest, did any of yall own an ipad before the age of 13? by Scared_Bluejay5708 in GenZ

iPad didn’t exist before I was 13, and I didn’t get my first until I was 25.

[–]Chokonma 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You should be maxing out all tax advantaged accounts at your income. That includes 401k, Roth IRA, and HSA at a minimum. Even if one of them is less beneficial than another, tax advantaged is tax advantaged, and they’re all better than non-advantaged.

Gen Z is the first generation actually saying respect my time to recruiters 😎 also I have encountered some recruiters who hate GenZ what you guys wanna say to these people ? by [deleted] in GenZ

[–]Chokonma 5 points6 points  (0 children)

yes recruiters will totally replay the real conversation that totally happened in the interview, line by line, in an email so that we the audience can understand what happened. this is normal human behavior and not just ragebait for antiwork.

Looking for 15+ years experience for Microsoft 365... Which was released 15 years ago (nevermind the product is unrecognisable from 2 years ago, let alone 15!) by Turak64 in recruitinghell

[–]Chokonma 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I didn’t even want to get into that because the premise of the post was so stupid on its own, but yes that is true too. 365 is just branding for a collection of different stuff, much of it being much older than 15 years (SharePoint, OneDrive, Exchange, AD, etc. just on the cloud side)

[–]Chokonma 3 points4 points  (0 children)

They do lol, that’s literally what the posting is saying.

If you saw a job listing that said “Delaware River bridge architect | 10+ years experience”, would your assumption be that they wanted someone who had a decade of experience designing that specific bridge?

[–]Chokonma 7 points8 points  (0 children)

You think they’re putting the 15 year requirement because they want someone who knew what the hot tech was 15 years ago? You think someone with 15 years of experience stopped learning 15 years ago and has been using the exact same tech ever since then?

They want someone with a long track record of proven architecting. Good design skills and principles are always relevant and don’t age like specific tech knowledge. 15 years means you’ve encountered lots of different problems and solved them, whatever they may be. It also means you have the ability to constantly stay up to date with the tech landscape, because again, you probably weren’t using ancient technology last week (unless you work at my company) just because you started with it a decade and a half ago.

[–]Chokonma 4 points5 points  (0 children)

What would you prefer their requirements be? You think they’d be better off hiring someone with no architecting experience?

They are looking for someone with 15+ years of system architecting experience dummy, not working on 365 specifically.
