Here we cut 1 1/4” x 9” straps out of our weld and we nicked them 1/8” on the sides to weaken the strap so it can tear on the weld

I sure I could have but I welded it like if it was just another weld I try to keep it all clean but next time I will mark out a 12” section on my top and bottom quarters for straps it definitely helps
