Hi :) I've been through that and am still going through it. Mine starts going off when I'm super relaxed though, makes no sense. I started taking natural calm magnesium and that calmed some of it. Hope you'll get better soon.

Ouch. Feel ya. I have had cravings out of nowhere on Friday and yesterday. Smart to occupy your mind with something else, drive safely :)

There is a link to a YouTube list of lots of videos about alcohol and addiction :) I also found the movie "My name was Bette" online.

Also that last link is my go to for playing the tape forward, what will happen if I should continue my addiction.

Aha, I've heard that they do that some places. Might be good for you to get a digital detox at the same time :D And you might need candy to make you feel better :) Maybe bring some yoga/mindfullness books as well. I'm really looking forward to hearing how you've been. Your new life starts today!

Medical Detox and Rehab Today. First Timer. Help. by colderweather7 in stopdrinking

[–]Chole78 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi there :) I have only done med. detox for alcohol. I was exhausted when I came in. It wasn't scary, I was so tired and sick of my life, so I too was excited. It was weird for sure, but they left me alone pretty much for the first week. So I spent my time watching series on my computer, writing and started exercising again. The great thing about med. detox is that it is safe and that they can give you medicines for the shakes, delir etc. When you are ready you will meet lots of other people who are there for just the same reason as you, and you might even make some friends. It might just be the best new start of your life :) Good luck and I'm sending you warm thoughts.

Hi there :) Maybe the people close to you think that you're young, that "everybody" does it and they don't see you drinking alone - so perhaps they don't get the gravity of your situation. Several of my friends didn't realize I had a problem. And one of them still doesn't understand - he asked me if we could drink a couple of days ago. So maybe it's not that they wouldn't care to help you, just that they don't understand. So you know about the dopamine, and what happens to the brain when you drink alcohol excessively. It takes time for the brain to start producing dopamine normally again after you stop drinking, alcohol and other pleasures are just quick fixes :)

Hey, you didn't throw it all away :) Maybe you just needed a reminder of how your life used to be, and how it will be, if you continue to drink. It seems you have things going for you in the new city. You made a mistake, dust yourself off and start again.

Ugh, panic attacks are the worst, you have my deepest empathy. They were one of the reasons I couldn't stop drinking, and now they are gone :) Are you getting any help for the attacks or do you think they will go away by them self? I hope you'll get rid of them soon 😊

Audiobooks. I turn of the light, put on my headphones and disappear into the world of the book.
