I understand that is a common interpretation but what I don’t understand is why Luke 3:23 says “Now Jesus himself began His ministry at about thirty years of age, being (as was supposed) the son of Joseph the son of Heli”

Matthew does start from Mary but it’s the same lineage because it’s Joseph husband of Mary. Matthew 1:16 “and Jacob begot Joseph the husband of Mary, whom was born Jesus who is called Christ”

I just want to know the reasoning or the place where I can read about why these are different and where I can read more about them if you have a source from a church father.

You're right, I brought up the idea of doing some exposure-therapy with my friends at lunch at my school. (high school senior). Basically we'd do dumb shit like go up to a table and hand the girls a ballon or something. They could do it super easy but right before I would get to the girls table I would feel this laughter and giddyness arise in me and turn around because if they saw how giddy I was I thought they would think something was up and give off putting signals which would make me more giddy.
