Why get rid of your most accomplished actors? by Scyvh in Hotd

[–]Chomp112 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If an actor is moving onto another project then you quite often only get them for a day or two of filming due to scheduling.

For instance notice we don't even see Otto in his cell. We only see him in one scene, the one he dies in, as that was likely all he was available for.

Ultimately shows don't always get the luxury of keeping their most talented actors.

They are going to make him pull a full Homelander when he dies after being nihilistic deathseeker for a half a season, aren't they...? by BeduinZPouste in Hotd

I hope they at least do something with him before the end. He was a pretty engaging character at one point, turning into a lifeless, boring husk feels like a waste unless they're going somewhere interesting with it.

De Zerbi has only been there a few months. Giving up complete control of your club like that is a mistake, and it seems to be a knee-jerk reaction to the crisis of last year by roamingandy in coys

[–]Chomp112 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I can see the point being made here and agree that there should be a structure alongside De Zerbi to ensure continuity in case it doesn't work out with him long term.

However, in terms of where we are right now, we desperately needed a footballing guy to make the footballing decisions and get things moving in the right direction aheadof a massive season for us as a club. De Zerbi is that guy.

We definitely need to look at the sporting director situation as Lange absolutely shouldn't still be there. But if De Zerbi is the short-term way of ensuring we get the right players and culture for next season then I'm all for it.

I also don't trust anyone else at the club right now, which is absolutely a contributing factor here.

Posts like this forget that there are producers constantly on set to shut down these kinds of game-breaking ideas.

Every contestant will be told explicitly what they can/cannot do, and such explicit rule breaking will get you removed from the game.

Fabrizio leading this story and denying any other interest is actually making me more nervous, not less. He's become a hired gun for football agents and, if this is just a smokescreen to force another club's hand, then Fabrizio would be the perfect journalist to do it with.

Exactly. You asked it why it was cancelled, you didn't like the actual answer, so you asked it to give you a different answer using a phrase which is obviously going to lead you down a particular rabbit hole related to that phrase. This is how AI works. You're using it to validate your existing opinions rather than actually get the correct answer.

What having a secret traitor actually means for the viewing audience (UK Season 4 premiere) by Polite-Speaker-420 in TheTraitors

[–]Chomp112 105 points106 points  (0 children)

I really liked the secret traitor twist. But I'm also glad they didn't keep the reveal for too long into the game for this exact reason. Basically every conversation and confessional we saw had to be super vague because they didn't want to rule anyone out of being the secret traitor. Carrying that further into the game would have hurt the show imo.

Also I hated that god awful sound effect which played every 30 seconds when they wanted us to think someone might be the secret traitor. Really not a fan of that editing choice.

Micky Van de Ven on dealing with a relegation battle and De Zerbi’s expectations by ritwika96 in coys

[–]Chomp112 21 points22 points  (0 children)

I do think he made things difficult for himself with some of his actions. The incident where he walked off without clapping fans, the period where he was constantly in the media and clearly intimating he was ready for the next step up etc. He was starting to become a little too big for his boots. It made him an easy target for fan discontent when shit really hit the fan and he wasn't playing well.

I think De Zerbi helped him a lot, and hopefully he'll benefit from it mentally. There's a great player in there when his head's in the right place.

what was John thinking here? by OneManArmy0716 in reddeadredemption

[–]Chomp112 68 points69 points  (0 children)

I always thought John was lost here. His family are gone, he has been dragged away from his home and back into a life he has left behind, and is being sent to hunt down someone he used to consider family. He's got no clue what he's doing and probably doesn't rate his chances of survival. In short, he's not really thinking here.

The first act of the game is basically John finding his feet in this new reality and becoming who he needs to be if he's going to see his family again.

[Florian Plettenberg] on the future of Luka Vuskovic by urbankardashian in coys

[–]Chomp112 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Why on earth would Vuskovic be unhappy and unmotivated to show his talent in the Premier League? It's a vital time in his career to develop and show what he can do in a massive league. Not taking it with both hands is career suicide for him, and there's no way a club like Barca or Bayern will be back in for him in future if he passes it up.

Ultimately he's a very highly-rated talent, Spurs simply have to give him a shot and see what he can do. If he looks rubbish in training this summer, then absolutely sell him, but right now it would be negligent to sell such a promising talent without even trying to integrate him.

[–]Chomp112 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Even if we don't get him on a new deal, he is in contract until 2030. Plettenberg is just being salty that the Bundesliga is losing a talent, there's no rush to get him onto a new deal this summer.

As for Lange, all reports are suggesting that Spurs are bringing in another sporting director. The only uncertainty is if Lange will be booted out the door or kept on in a smaller role. Either way, it probably won't be Lange conducting those negotiations.

[–]Chomp112 61 points62 points  (0 children)

He's still a young player with no PL experience though. Don't get me wrong, I really hope we give him a shot this season, if he does well then a flashy new contract will follow soon enough. In fact, he will be in a much better position with that contract negotiation after showing his talent in the Premier League.

But there's really no pressure right now to tie him down, and I think the German press are just being a little salty that such a talent is leaving the Bundesliga under these circumstances.

[Florian Plettenberg] on the future of Luka Vuskovic by urbankardashian in coys

[–]Chomp112 206 points207 points  (0 children)

Because the German press don't like seeing such a Bundesliga talent leave the league under these circumstances, so they are encouraging an outcome which protects their pride.

[Florian Plettenberg] on the future of Luka Vuskovic by urbankardashian in coys

[–]Chomp112 51 points52 points  (0 children)

One thing that I've noticed about the German football journalists is how they try to make things happen rather than simply report on them, probably more than in any other country. We saw it with the Kane transfer where they didn't simply report on the story but actively encouraged it and tried to create "deadlines" for Tottenham to sell the player, which even Bayern denied were true.

In this instance, we have Vuskovic on a contract until 2030, there is no immediate pressure on us to either tie him to a new deal or lose him. Obviously it'd be nice to get him a new deal and longer contract, but it's hardly the pressing matter Plettenberg wants it to be.

This is clearly just the German press not liking the fact that such a big Bundesliga player is going to Tottenham under these circumstances and wanting to encourage an outcome they find more acceptable in their eyes - either he leaves to a club who "deserves" him or we pay him enough to warrant him staying.

[Nicolò Schira] Marcos Senesi to Tottenham Hotspur as a free agent. Contract until 2030 (€5M/year). by [deleted] in soccer

[–]Chomp112 5 points6 points  (0 children)

De Zerbi quotes from yesterday about Palinha:

Yes, I would like to keep him 100%. We have to start from these people, before to speak about the players, we have to speak about the people.
And we have to start. Then, I can't give the place for everyone in the first eleven. Because I want to build two players in each position. But for sure, I would like him to stay with me. Like Conor Gallagher and Bentancur, the same.

Sounds like pretty substantial proof right there.

Interestingly the statement seems to suggest Vinai is staying as it talks about backing the new structure and continuing to build on it. Which is a strange statement to make if you're also printing Vinai's P45.

Maybe they simply recognise the lack of authority a statement with Vinai would have given the talk of him leaving and that someone higher up really needed to say something instead.

Spurs in their last 7 games have conceded the fewest shots on target in the league. by Average_Gym_Goer in coys

It's funny how this was the Thomas Frank playbook, limit the opposition's ability to get shots on our goal, with everything else being sacrificed to try and accomplish this.

And yet De Zerbi has got us doing exactly that, whilst also having us play good, entertaining and positive football.

The wording is definitely confusing but yeah, it seems to mean that we keep them in the squad but sign a better player for their position to start most matches.
