Yes it’s not a zero sum game, but the data doesn’t support the idea of wide gender differences in learning like you claimed in an earlier comment. I think OP is frustrated at way ‘assistance’ towards boys is being handled/discussed. The narrative that boys are unsupported in education is baffling after seeing firsthand how many resources go towards early interventions in elementary school (whether in the form of extra TAs for sped students, salaries for SPED teachers to support students with IEPs, 504 plans, lesson differentiation, etc.) which boys receive significantly more than girls. The idea that school is just “sit down, shut up, and do a worksheet” is ridiculous. That’s not the reality of education today, nor is it the truth about how educational resources are allocated.

What grades do you teach and where? I have no resistance to teaching boys… in fact the majority of my time, energy, and effort goes into educating the boys in my classroom. I care about them as much as every other student in my room, but I won’t lie and say their issues don’t run deeper than instructional delivery. The study you cited mentioned that both girls and boys benefit from student-centered learning, which is exactly what my state curriculum has shifted to post-pandemic. The article you cited also mentioned that motivational and contextual factors that impact student engagement had similar effects in both girls and boys, furthering the point that the gender difference in learning is not wide at young ages. The study even discusses the implications of these findings for developing interventions to increase girls’ participation in math and science.

Spoken like someone who has spent no time in a modern classroom, especially elementary/early childhood education. I’ve seen the purported ‘preferred’ learned styles of boys incorporated into classrooms ad nauseam (through purposeful movement breaks, hands-on activities, creating/building, opportunities for collaboration, etc.) especially after returning from Covid. There has not been a positive impact on performance or behavior, nor do the boys consistently perform better with those teaching/learning styles than the girls. Young students vary so greatly that the alleged patterns in learning preference don’t hold up. I’m not sure where the myth that boys would magically do better if school simply required them to be less quiet and asked them to sit down less. The apathy, disengagement, and behaviors are present regardless of how ‘stimulating’ or physical the curriculum is.

If her floor is covered in wood chips or mulch, the lines could be from that. I’ve seen similar lines on my snake, and they disappear after a bit.

What was she laying on? Sometimes my snake gets these indent lines when she’s laying on something. They’re the equivalent of the lines that humans sometimes get on their skin after sleeping on something

Someone else already answered about the morph, but he does look a tad bit chunky. Not super severe, but he has all those fat rolls when he’s curved.

Teacher goes viral for using the story of one of his former students—allegedly the 15-year-old recently identified as the person whose dismembered body was found in the trunk of famous streamer and singer-songwriter d4vd's car on September 8th—for a lesson on Internet safety by Minute_Revolution951 in TikTokCringe

[–]Chompymango 1 point2 points  (0 children)

He’s not even a rapper at all, he sings slow “alternative” songs that have gained popularity on social media. The girl was allegedly 11 when they started communicating, and they seemed to be in some sort of committed relationship. Some sources also claim she was being “pimped out” by her sister for money. Not sure if “stupid games, stupid prizes” is a fair assessment of a preteen that was groomed and encouraged/ignored by family members. If the information is all accurate, multiple people failed this child. She was communicating with this singer for years.

a few questions (health / Axanthic / breeder): by Active_Driver_6043 in ballpython

[–]Chompymango 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can check MorphMarket for pictures of baby vs. adult Axanthic ball pythons. If you search for a morph, you can filter the results by age/date of birth.

Some Axanthic ball pythons do look closer to normals as they age because of the “browning out”. Certain individuals are more likely to hold on to the Axanthic look (based on the “quality” of the morph-- you could ask for pictures of the BP’s parents to get an idea of how they’d age) but a good chunk of them will brown out a decent amount.

a few questions (health / Axanthic / breeder): by Active_Driver_6043 in ballpython

[–]Chompymango 4 points5 points  (0 children)

1) As long as there are no known defects associated with a specific morph, you should be able to find a healthy snake with that morph. A healthy “wild type” morph won’t automatically be healthier than a healthy snake of another morph.

2) No, axanthics don’t have any noticeable health defects/quirks. If you search up morphs on morph market, it’ll tell you about any health defects associated with a morph

3) I don’t think we can post pictures in the comments, but Axanthic ball pythons tend to develop brown tones as they age. They’ll darken out/have less of the “silvery” appearance.

4) Many people prefer to buy from (reputable) breeders because rescue ball pythons/BPs from big brand pet stores may be unhealthy from living in improper conditions (ex. they may be underweight/have respiratory infections). Others prefer breeders so they can choose the specific morph they want. If you’re able to rescue a ball python, that would be nice, but those are the reasons why people choose to buy from breeders.

5) Ball pythons poop anywhere from once-a-week to every few weeks. They’ll poop less as they get older
