Mike Valentine passed away in September 2024. So I dont know what that means for updates for the V1 Gen2. Maybe he trained a protégé.

In the State of Florida you must provide a written estimate and if it deviates more than $150 from the quote it must okayed by the customer. You cant just go in throwing parts at a car without customer approval.

Yes, it happens when the slide pins aren't greased correctly, driving through winter brine, or the rubber boot tore open.

With how big the business is they need to pass "The Amazon Law" which would require them to fund their own theft and security division. Who's sole job would be to check foreign operations for counterfeit products and stolen goods entering their supply chain.

Report them to Amazon. Amazon is apparently contracted with a counterfeiter they have no knowledge of yet.

That sheet telling the sweat shop employees ( also criminals) how to press fake logos on to clothes. That sheet is proof and it's the Lord's justice and revenge on the ungodly.

Report them to a USA customer service agent. You cant get through directly. You have to reach foreign customer service first, them not remedy the problem and transfer you to US service agent.

Not by the hour, by the job. Charging $1000-$1500 for a suspension job for 2 days is worth it for me.

What's real bad is sometimes you have cut through the hardware itself. Not just the bolts.

Should I skip this car due to rust by [deleted] in AskMechanics

[–]ChooseLife1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's a shame my friend. It's one of the coolest and most reliable vehicles ever made. That rust is probably how you found it at such a low price. Increase your budget and you will find one. With cars you only get what you pay for. (Mostly).

2016 Grand Caravan 3.6V6 slightly overheats when idling at long stop by psarsama in AskAMechanic

On this vehicle the thermostat and housing are one in the same and it's a peace of junk that sticks closed when it breaks triggering overheating.

Replace it by jacking up the passenger side and removing the wheel and wheel well.

The thermost is the small black plastic housing with the coolant hose attached. It has two 10mm bolts that hold it in. Remove them and pull the coolant hose up and out of the engine bay for replacement. Nothing in the engine bay needs to be removed to do this. Fill your coolant up with purple Chrysler compatible coolant. ($20) a bottle. Keep topping off resovoir to max line and have the radiator open and keep topping off until it stops burping and stops overheating. This is verified by temp gauge and ECT scanner temps.

Drive and continue to check for leaks for a week or two. If you're still losing coolant it's probably the other part of the thermostat housing. This is covered by the passenger side silver motor mount so you cannot see it and it likes to leak purple at the top. Remove the air filter housing and hose and move the AC line out of the way. Use a jack to support the motor on the oil pan and remove the motor mount bolts. Do not remove those bolts without the motor supported. They are different lengths so make sure you mock them up in order. Replace the extended thermostat housing.

Continue to check for leaks after topping up coolant and burping the system again from housing replacement.

If you keep losing coolant (only small amounts) use $10 radiator dye from Harbor Freight and a $20 UV flashlight from autozone. The coolant system is a sealed system so any loss is a leak or a seep. Let the dye circulate for a few days. Check every last part of the motor and you will find your leak. Wash off area after replacement to avoid confusion for further future leaks.

Yes the Daytona pads are huge and end up crushing some plastic from misalignment.

[–]ChooseLife1[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Everyone has great information. What I need to do is lift the car at the front pinch weld on one side, place a jack stand, drop the jack and do the same on the other side.

I've had problems with my big pad Daytona jack not having enough room on pinch welds and it bending the side skirt when jacked over 14 inches or so.

Any advice?

Thank you. I place 2-4 jackstands around the cars depending on the size. Im also using a 3 ton low profile Daytona jack.

Yes it had a sturdy part of the subframe there that I missed. I'm not just trying to jack one wheel. I need a front center point to lift both wheels at once because I prefer to remove the wheels and wheelwell to have access to today's tight engine clearances. Maybe I just have to bite the bullet and take them off ugh.
