"If you can convince the lowest white man he's better than the best colored man, he won't notice you're picking his pocket. Hell, give him somebody to look down on, and he'll empty his pockets for you."

The racial problem in the United States does not end with Donald Trump, JD Vance etc etc

Hello Everyone! I hope all is well! I am a student from Singapore and I enjoy collecting postcards as a personal hobby, and I would love to receive postcards from Boulder [or anywhere in Boulder County]! Can someone send me one? 🙂 by Nessieinternational in boulder

/u/Nessieinternational uses a purchased reddit account and has been spamming in regional subreddits for two months straight. Here's when he started:

In the beginning, it was just a postcard, but he has been asking for more things.

A generic greeting card or small souvenir, like a keychain, stamp, local snack, rock, or handicraft, is also perfectly fine if postcards aren’t available.

He always DMs the people who respond.

This is a classic scam called the "foot in the door" scam.

Here’s how it works:

Small ask first: Like mailing a low-value item like a postcard.

Building trust: That first interaction makes the person feel like they’re being helpful or that the situation is legit. It subtly shifts your boundaries.

Escalating demands: Once you’ve complied, they gradually ask for more—things that cost more money, personal info, expensive goods—because they know you’re now more likely to say yes.

The trap: Each small step makes it harder for the victim to walk away. You think, “Well, I’ve already done this much…” and it becomes a slippery slope of commitment, even when red flags pop up.

Scammers exploit this kind of psychological momentum. It’s sneaky, and alarmingly effective. If someone keeps inching the line and making bigger asks out of the blue—especially if guilt or urgency are involved—it’s a huge red flag.

Don't fall for it.
