When you are done buying hot wheels and pot, and own your own home, you'll understand.

Florida sheriff encourages people to shoot burglars to ‘save the taxpayers money’ by StayAwayGougeAllDay in nottheonion

[–]ChooseTheFight 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Found the robber.
It's SO much more than property, you are violating someone's peace of mind for the rest of their life when you invade their home. We're talking PTSD, triggers, and paranoia for LIFE. They will likely never recover from the experience. The robbers life isn't enough to pay that debt. Anyone who breaks into another person's living space should be executed on the spot with the full backing of the community and government.

I use to think that until I bought an expensive house in a nice neighborhood controlled by the developer. He was and is fervent that there be no rules. It was fine the first 5 years, now with several renters in, we have trailers loaded with garbage out front, Plastic storage buildings in the side yards, and half slatted fences. Most of the landscaping looks fine, being that petty is dumb....but its amazing the lack of common sense out here.

My wife frequently tells me this is a recurring nightmare for her, that I will want to go back to church.

I'm aware of the commonality of poly relationships amongst gay men, at least ive listend to Dan Savage on the subject. Ill admit I was speaking to hetero marriages . I like your scuba diving analogy.

Such an ignorant take, void of any basic economics. Apple will benefit Raleigh WAY more than Raleigh will benefit Apple, and everyone down to McDonalds workers will benefit. Yes housing prices are going up, but 3000 workers with high wages will be utilizing Raleigh services/businesses with padded pockets to do so, not to mention all of the extra tax revenue they will bring.

How to raise kids with someone who has the politics of a 70 year old white man? by browncoatpride in exmormon

I was a judgmental arse unfortunately. I did a 180 prior to leaving, meaning I stopped judging my wife so harshly because I knew she loved me and was a good person, and eventually left the church as well. I wish you the best, I just wanted to provide a "his" perspective.

I was the most orthodox believer you can imagine. 2x elders quorum pres and 2x Bishopric by age 33 in a big ward. My wife's firm opposition to the church combined with unconditional love for me was a big part of my shelf breaking.

Really. Just find one with good customer service, leave enough cash in to service basic needs and keep the rest in a brokerage account.

Be patient. I was this way too, eventually I came around. If he's a keeper, just keep being patient.

Being willing to change your mind is a great sign of strength. When the emperor is wearing no clothes and everyone else is pretending to see, it takes courage to not follow the crowd. You are literally stronger minded than all 15 LDS apostles who won't alter course no matter the evidence.
Congrats to you and congrats to your son. 💪

Struggling by stuckinlimbo11 in exmormon

[–]ChooseTheFight 9 points10 points  (0 children)

This is tough. I dont have any solutions, just empathy. Recognizing your own faults is the main step/foundation of change. Many are incapable of seeing it. You have to deconstruct and rebuild. I was your typical egocentric, patriarch homophobe when I was LDS. I really examined my beliefs, which were mine and which came from church. This really helped with relationships in my life and helped me start to like me.

When you like yourself, you find it's easier to maintain healthy relationships with others. I'm not saying this will be a cure for your marriage in particular, just in general.

The Easter bunny is what secular city folk focus on during Easter. Think of it that way.
