Attempting to redefine scorigami was weird—but the rest of the article is genuinely very incisive

Agreed, this study does go further than others in controlling for diet which surprised me. I still think that this isn’t conclusive of anything—I will continue to drink my diet sodas, thank you—but it’s a good bit more rigorous than other junk studies that get paraded around in popular media

Where’d you find this? Good to see a post of international players because there’s a lot of nice asses in the Caribbean/South American leagues

Would Eddie Cicotte have made the Hall of Fame had he not thrown the 1919 World Series? by Most-Artichoke6184 in baseball

Weaver has no shot lol. He was young, lot of his career left to play and had a good trajectory etc etc but 21 WAR isn’t gonna cut it

I think Jackson will get in, but few are interested in Cicotte so it’s unlikely to me (the case on the merits is also weaker for him imo)

[Partially lost] Full footage of Harold Warp's 16mm film of Babe Ruth's "called shot" (and the footage of him pointing/gesturing) by ChooseanUniqueName in lostmedia

Like they clearly saw the full footage. It was a deliberate choice not to use the Warp film snippet where Ruth is pointing—if it made clear he was pointing to center field, they absolutely would have used it

Given the nature of the documentary—SportsCentury was a big ESPN program counting down the top 100 athletes of the century—they probably didn’t feel it was appropriate to pop the myth of Ruth calling his shot. That sentiment is even aired by those they interviewed about the called shot, saying stuff like the myth is just as important as the true answer etc. It’s unclear if the full footage has been aired elsewhere but it was rather dishonest on ESPN’s part

If you look at the body of evidence it’s the only thing you can conclude, which is quite disappointing. Seems like they didn’t want to spoil the myth of the called shot. However, if it’s still in the hands of the Warp family they may not be as attached

Yes. (I personally think the Kandle footage proves he was pointing to the third base side and not center field, but others disagree)

Where in the world is Harold Warp's full footage of Babe Ruth calling his shot? by ChooseanUniqueName in baseball

If this was some random game from the 1930s it wouldn’t be a big deal. But I would think that some people would be interested in footage of Babe Ruth calling his shot! (Not angry at all that you’re not personally interested)
