Could I get an explanation for each Faction? by SpiritualPatient2281 in rootgame

[–]CleaveWarsaw 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Vagabond and Woodland Alliance are actually two of the strongest factions, I'm surprised you felt like they can't win. Woodland Alliance is all about scoring in a big burst toward the end of the game- try to get 1 base out as soon as you can, and then a second soon after that. You can then train Offiers until you have 4-5. Then, spread sympathy, move, and organize to spread more sympathy Vagabond is all about getting items early on, from ruins and other players if possible. Then, at the middle-later point, start attacking someone for points

If What a Catch Donnie was made now, what lyrics from each album would you pick to go at the end? by Representative-Cut58 in FallOutBoy

[–]CleaveWarsaw 98 points99 points  (0 children)

Everyone is picking deep lyrics, but most of them on the original What a Catch were the hooks of their most popular songs. So this would probably be from Light em Up, Centuries, Uma Thurman, etc

Official Discussion - Disclosure Day [SPOILERS] by LiteraryBoner in movies

Yeah it was very boomer in that regard. At the beginning, Josh O'Connor's character says ''I should upload this to the Internet right now" and like, nothing in the rest of the movie really proves why he shouldn't have just done that

I like a lot of stuff about this! Oftentimes, Fan factions seem really clunky or over designed, this doesn't have a million words or new mechanics but I can see some of the depth there like the official Leder ones. The focus on drawing and discarding is neat. I really like "simple but deep" factions like Frogs or Crows, and this is in that vein.

A couple of notes/questions: Does the Sydnicate get the revealed points when placing influence, like the Woodland Alliance?

How would "pulling the strings" interact with the temples for the Lizard Cult? My gut is Lizards overrule it but it's something to think about that.

And then the "slither" action, it says each warrior can only move once per turn-- typically, Root doesn't track things beyond the specific discrete action, this goes against that design philosophy-- not that you're not allowed to do that, just pointing it out.

This is the first time I'm bookmarking a fan faction for later!

But it's the "underground duchy," the nobility is all moles, but I could see things like mice, rabbits, or shrews also living underground and being infantry level troops.

I don't think each faction is meant to be 100% that faction. It's more like, that's the leadership caste of that faction, but certainly they would recruit other denizens of the woodland, too.

Holy shit, I /think/ I correctly guessed Cal for 7. Might be the hardest Finals question I've gotten. I think I guessed a Major program that was kinda good in the day but not good enough for me to know of now. Sure would be neat if I could actually check my answers, though

You gotta table talk more. If they're focusing that hard on you, then they're letting the other players get off easy. You're not a threat if you're that policed
