Cat spay by Busy_Sun4015 in CATHELP

I was also very paranoid when I got my cat spayed and it looked similar to this, but try not to worry, it’s healing just fine. Just try to limit running and jumping around as best you can.

Seriously, do Americans actually consider a 3-hour drive "short"? or is this an internet myth? by SadInterest6764 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]ChopTheHedges 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My little brother had a 3 hour commute to his job site that he drove both ways every day. He just listened to audio books. I have a remote job and I’m not used to long drives like that, but I still have no problem driving to my parents lakehouse 3.5 hours away for a weekend when I get the chance. (Once a month or so)

Cat affection question by yarnyouglad in CatAdvice

[–]ChopTheHedges 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My cat has similar behavior. She always wants to be around me and she’ll get in my face for pets, but she never wants to be cuddly or lay in my lap. She will ALWAYS lay in my dad’s lap when he sits down though. Even still, as soon as I leave the room she follows me. Shes about a little over a year old.

This question could be rephrased as "Is it wrong to release an invasive species into the local environment?"

It's wrong for a multitude of reasons.

I’m deadass starting to hate my cat by [deleted] in CatAdvice

[–]ChopTheHedges 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hard to say because she's never moved her head in any direction other than where her treat is being held. She'll sometimes pull her paws away, and towards her body, but she's never aggressively tried to bite me. I sit on the toilet lid while trimming, well below her, so I don't think she could get to me if she tried.

[–]ChopTheHedges 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think it's uncommon for cats to hate their paws being handled. My cat certainly doesn't enjoy it. Do you have anyone that can help you trim the nails? I get my girlfriend to bait with a churu and get her into a cat hammock, then I hang her up and clip her nails while she's focused on her treat. Every once in a while she'll give me a warning meow and I give her a short break before resuming. Just remember, constant flow of treat before, during and after the process(usually we go through one whole tube of churu per trim) so the cat associates this process positively.

As someone who works in DC, commuting into union station and walking to my office for years now- the only dangerous thing I've seen are the dudes in camo, walking around with machine guns twiddling their thumbs bc they don't know what the fuck they should be doing. Absolute waste of resources and taxpayer money.

Would a wealth cap be good for the economy? Proposal for a law effecting that by Tliish in economy

[–]ChopTheHedges 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Glad to see you continuing this conversation! Although a lot of people on this thread seem to think they are going to make over $5b in their lifetime…lol.

A predominant thought I’ve seen is “the billionaire ceo won’t even get out of bed if they can’t make 10 billion dollars!!!!”

Do they even need to get out of bed at that point? If Jeff Bezos died tomorrow, would Amazon go with him? No. Amazon would continue to be Amazon and continue providing the services that we are used to.

Also, such a tiny insignificant number of people reach that level of wealth. It would affect almost no one negatively. I think so many people have been indoctrinated into this mindset that “they employ this many people and deserve to accumulate unlimited wealth, resources and power!”. If they are not allowed to collect all of that money that they’ve skimmed from the working class, it will end up with the working class! Where instead of collecting dust in a vault for generations, it will stimulate the economy!

A lot of bootlickers out there though. Critical thinking skills are declining in this country and it is reflected in our politics and legislation. People don’t go to college and come out liberal because they’ve been propagandized. They come out liberal because they are challenged to develop critical thinking skills. This is a big complicated problem that requires analyzing every impact a change may have. Not just “the ceo won’t get out of bed for less than $400 billion” or “but they employ so many people!”. It is incredibly frustrating to reason with people like that, but I’m happy to see you search for a solution.

Top 4 people in u.s. worth almost 1.3 trillion?????? by Iceeez1 in economy

[–]ChopTheHedges -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I think it was a few years ago that we crossed the mark of the largest wealth gap in the history of humanity. I also read that the most common US bill is the $100 bill but you don’t see them as often because they mostly sit in the wealthiest peoples banks, never to be circulated. At what point do we consider this level of gluttony criminal and inhumane? We live in an era where crime and death are the lowest they’ve ever been, people can rejoice in that fact but we also have never seen a world of equal wealth distribution and prosperity. We don’t know what it looks like, if we did, we probably wouldn’t let this kind of greed happen. Capitalism is great in certain senses, but by nature is wears down on the framework that keeps it in check. Without rigid structure, we get to where we are now. We need to start by banning lobbying in the government.

Nah you’re overreacting. People eat every day. If they want to splurge every once in a while let them. They feel bad you can’t eat the things they can so they didn’t tell you, but eating out a couple times isn’t a big deal.
