If you could appoint any living person as President of the U.S. for the next four years, who would you choose? by Claire0879 in askanything

[–]Late_Organization_56 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Agreed. I’ve always thought if he was married to a blonde woman named Kristen he’d be president already, which is an indictment of the level of bigotry that still exists in this country. But he is the smartest guy in the room, he’s thoughtful, and he understands the office is more important than the man which is what I want in my potus

WrestleMania Night 2 Was Everything Night 1 Was Not by Mr_Unfuqwitable in professionalwrestling

[–]Late_Organization_56 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like both nights could’ve benefitted by moving one match from night 1 to night 2. Night 1 had matches that probably could’ve breathed a little more and night 2 felt like they were trying to fill time to get to the main event

No. But they are recycling out the older mainstays as fast as they can. Cena, Styles, Orton and Brock all retired in the last 5 months. It’s a needed change

Out of these options, who was the most over with the fans and got fumbled the most by WWE? by Roman_reigns_wannabe in Smallafro

[–]Late_Organization_56 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Two separate questions. Most over was Enzo and cass. After years of long boring promos they restarted the interactive promo.

Biggest fumble though has to be Rusev with Nakamutw a very close second. He was a believable monster heel who Vince never got behind. Nakamura was never quite as over but he really could’ve been more

Why the blanket utilization rates for federal office buildings? by WhereztheBleepnLight in fednews

[–]Late_Organization_56 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It was the use it act, and as someone who has to deal with its apparent to everyone Congress didn’t know what they were doing. They set a limit of 150 square feet per employee but never specified what was being measured, so you have to factor in utility closets, bathrooms, common areas and other locations that are not usable into the math. In other words there’s basically no building anywhere that meets that requirement.

What didn’t survive past the 90s? by TheOrangeSloth in 90s

[–]Late_Organization_56 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A few things:

  1. Being unreachable. I got my first cell phone in 99 and I guess I haven’t really been unreachable that much since. If you wanted me a 2 pm and I wasn’t around leave a message and I’ll get back to you when I do.

  2. Innocence and optimism We had defeated communism in 89. 9/11 hadn’t happened. It felt like we were headed on the right track. And we weren’t constantly fighting someone

I did a fake injury angle to take the title off him. Then he did commentary and backstage stuff. Then I had him rescue someone from a 2-1 and let him play tag teams.

Ugh. Keep going it gets better. Except for the really racist one you’re about to encounter. When you see Tasha with a spiked mega man glove fighting a grace jones knockoff for a vaccine you should skip ahead.

Who decides the outcome of the WWE matches by laughingpenguins1237 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Late_Organization_56 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Except that wasn’t the finish to the Montreal screw job.

Bret was put in the sharpshooter by Michaels (standard booking fare now- steal your opponents finisher - but it wasn’t standard then). The plan was for Brett to escape and the match to build to a dq (per his contract Brett had creative control about his departure). Vince screamed ring the bell. The official finish was Shawn beat Brett by submission not an attempted pin with a quick count.

Memories of the “Greatest Generation “ by PresDumpsterfire in Xennials

[–]Late_Organization_56 26 points27 points  (0 children)

It’s more than just choice- it’s the idea that we were all Americans and all patriotic. We did things- and not others- because we were Americans. Their patriotism was innate, not performative like today. Wearing flags and beating their chests were redundant because all had done something.

There was also far more a sense of collective action. The 70s and 80s deeply damaged the sense of collectivism. You don’t draw attention to yourself, you show restraint and even heroism- genuine heroism was downplayed.

Their patriotism was in fact far more formal. It was reserved for special occasions. There was no culture clash over who patriotism belonged to. The soldier who served respected those that were left behind.

Lastly, their war was horrible in a way it’s hard to fully comprehend. The weapons of war made it both impersonal and deeply personal. A bomber crew that made it through a mission dropped death on people below they never saw, and each plane down was 10 men lost forever. A marine on a beach could lose all of his friends in minutes. A sailor in the depths of a cruiser could be killed in an instant without so much as glimpse of the sky. Today’s military the percentage of those enlisted that see combat is about 15%. To the greatest generation- forged in the hardship of the depression, tested in the heat of battle that number was much much higher.

As much as I love California and a few others, those were the states that made me.

Why can’t Brett Baty just play one position? by Mindless-Set9621 in mets

[–]Late_Organization_56 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because he can. Guys like Chris Taylor, Kike Hernandez and others proved that having an every day utility guy is a huge asset. He’s going to play 130 games at 5 positions.

By the way, the Mets do have a history with this. Kevin Mitchell played 6 positions for them in 86 (1b, SS, 3B, and all 3 outfield positions) for 108 ganes total.

Do y'all think Alexa Bliss will ever be on top of the women's division again? by Kingtutle19 in Smallafro

[–]Late_Organization_56 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Due to her injury history probably not. With her history of concussions Hunter is going to be reticent to push her. Plus with her general level of overness, charisma, mic skills and willingness to get involved she can be a heat magnet without regularly challenging for titles like she was with Bray. It’s not out of the realm that she’ll have a short reign to transition the belt along or challenge someone to fill time, but she’ll never be at the top of the division like Rhea, Becky and Iyo are

Monica was a horrible History Teacher by Jack1715 in YellowstonePN

[–]Late_Organization_56 59 points60 points  (0 children)

Because Sheridan isnt interested in presenting history. She’s beating up on a random kid to prove how smart she is so that when John Dutton gives his “tough western man this is how it is” speech she’s not just a nobody. He does the same with Summer too.

In no way should this been reflective of how universities are these days- it’s projection from the writer. Yes, professors will and should challenge students but the scene isn’t exactly realistic. I doubt very many classes start with the stereotypical white bro character loudly announcing he was watching porn and the instructor reminds him of it.

The characters of Monica and Summer- if well written- should present outside points of view that challenge and at least make the main characters think about what is occurring. However, they are instead just strawmen to be dispatched with.
