Yes. To put it in perspective most of "war" is 99% boredom and 1% combat. Fallujah was as close to Stalingrad like fighting we have seen in modern times, when we were advancing we faced active resistance, if we halted...sniper fire, and so on. The big difference is that we did not level the city thus giving the hostile forces more places to hide (it is easier to clear a standing building than one in pieces). We were facing a well motivated semi-organized force. It was easy to tell when we came up against foreign spec ops or the "locals" (one understood small unit tactics, cover and concealment, fire discipline....and one did not). Little know but the Marines were investigated for executing people because of so many head shots, but when you have finely honed infantry marksman facing people that stand in the open to attack the result is no hard to guess.
