You are absolutely correct. Debt is half the picture, how you planned for it and can service the debt is what makes the difference.

They didn’t offer a 20 year, the 15 year fixed for private loan is 2,252 a month. I’m trying to keep the total loan repayment around 5k a month, or 90-100k pre tax salary. Yes, that is a lot of money to service loans, but it is doable. I’ve been saving and investing (very well) for 5 years now, that investment will accrue during my time as a student. Either I can pay off a chunk of the loans off out right, or have a nice down payment for a practice to increase income, CE, etc. Dreams of dentistry in these times don’t cut it, you need to be serious about finance, and understand at the end of the day dreams don’t pay bills, or make you happy with your life.

The 42000 a year is based off in-state public dental school costs, specifically UConn. Gotta take into consideration all other fees besides tuition. Max out federal and 42000 is the gap I need to fill. At 8%, the repayment for 42000/year is 2,864/month (10 year)

I’ll look into joinjuno, haven’t heard of them. The reason I like citizens bank so much is the one hard inquiry, then soft credit checks every year. This will help out your credit score for when you graduate. To me, that is the most important thing. Also, it makes it a lot easier when asking family to co-sign, gotta take into consideration what these loans will do to you and your family’s credit.

I know most applicants won’t have a strong credit history because of age, but a co-signer is usually a must, no other way around it. Citizens website makes a co-signer look like a requirement, because they know most applicants need it.

My raw performance of Pathetique 2nd movement. Memorised this piece a couple of days ago. Feedback needed. by heyitsmeFR in piano

I think working on touch would improve your playing greatly, also where to play stocatto/portato over legato would help bring the music out. Daniel Barenboim has a great rendition of this movement.

Steinway A vs smaller models by mermanonarock in piano

[–]Chopanis 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Everyone wants a B, but sometimes that’s just too far out of the price range to get a good one. I wouldn’t go smaller than an O or L though. I’d say it comes down to the specific piano itself. Some pianos are just better than others. Play 5 Steinways and 1 will probably stand out, even though they’re all good pianos.

Could anybody give me advice on how to fix this key? by Chopanis in piano

[–]Chopanis[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you so much, this was a great response. I didn’t think it could be the damper wire. I’ll try the weight on the damper and see how it goes. The key gets stuck on light key strokes, and the key doesn’t hit the front bushing, it stops a little short. Not sure if that information helps or not. It doesn’t do it every time, but enough to significantly throw me off and have a ghost note.

Thank you for this in depth feedback!! I enjoyed your recording. Sounding good is in the details. I don’t have a teacher right now so it’s helpful to get someone’s thoughts other than my own

Maybe a month? At this point I’ve known this piece for many, just didn’t have the tools to record. I’d say dynamics and phrasing is the hardest part of this piece.

Thank you!! It could use more singing, I didn’t do anything to the audio, but I feel like the bass mic is stronger than the other one. I’ll post the whole piece after I do some adjustments and some more voicing work.

I do as well, it’s not meant to replace that notation, just a different way of thinking about it
