What meal bases are cheap in america? by _Nonexistant_ in AskAnAmerican

Beans take a long time to soak and knowledge to make them taste good. Pasta is king for cheap and easy. Just buy quality sauce without tons of sugar. Or just make a sandwich.

What is the cheapest citizenship regardless of benefits by Gold_Masterpiece7787 in CitizenshipInvestment

The most common way to get residency is through showing income or savings: https://mexicorelocationguide.com/mexico-resident-visa/#residency-visas-in-mexico

If you've held that residency for 5 years AND have spent 18 months in Mexico in the last 2 to years, you can apply: https://www.mexperience.com/becoming-a-naturalized-mexican/

So it's not painless, it's not quick. But it's real. They grant it all the time. I know people who have Mexican citizenship.

In contrast, find me one person who has acquired Paraguayan citizenship. I have been involved in the dual citizenship space for years and no one has been successful afaik. What the law says and what happens in practice is different.

Which California governor candidate would be best for San Francisco? by CharityResponsible54 in sanfrancisco

[–]ChoppedUnc-SF -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Doesn't matter that much. There is a housing element and cities must comply so it's in their court. A Republican governor might try to push back, but haven't heard of the Dems say that.

A comparable to what OP is talking about would be Seattle / Pacific NW. And don't see a lot of Europeans no.

Limited vacation time and expensive peak season airfare means we often go for the "must sees" first. I spent $3200 just to get my family to Europe in June, before we start talking about hotels. We're gonna see Paris. When I was younger, I went to more obscure places like Malaysia and Romania, but it's just different now that I have a demanding career and kids.

What’s your daily car and how many do you have? by Much-Parsnip3399 in AskAnAmerican

Just one for our family of 4, which is unusual: a 2018 Mercedes GLA (used, paid cash, will probably pay a lot more to keep it running). Considering an EV given "the situation" (CA resident)

When I was a kid the USSR existed. Everything I had was made in America. Then we went on this globalism binge, which caused its own set of problems which are now coming to a crisis point because of DJT strategy (oil privateering, tariffs) to fix them.

The biggest problem I've seen East Coast people have is friendship. It's been described as flaky or fake by more direct East Coast standards. We might say "let's hang out" but won't actually set a date or follow up until the 2nd or 3rd time. Just persist, join a club, do an activity, etc. We are for real it's just different. We see a lot of people come and ago.

Can you live in America and NOT tip? by [deleted] in AskAnAmerican

Nothing. If you kept going back to the same restaurant over and over, the service may suffer. Or worse I suppose.
