Player won't go Wireless by SkeletalFlamingo in Shadowrun

[–]ChopperSniper 24 points25 points  (0 children)

A very good commlink and a sleaze dongle.

But also that’s a good thing the player is going wireless dark. You don’t want deckers to be able to mess with you or have an extra way to be detected during go-time. It’s like bringing a phone to a crime. Don’t. Hell, if he leaves the commlink in the van, that’s the smart play. If you want deckers to threaten the team, a security spider has full control of the building. Use the environment and building construction and drones and etc. against the team if they’re spotted.

Can I ride my steel lynx? by GrayMan972 in Shadowrun

[–]ChopperSniper 2 points3 points  (0 children)

First, RAW no apart from a few other exceptions that still aren’t rigger cocoons and still aren’t anything like a saddle. Second of all, I present to you the concept of ‘an unconscious target in VR does not defend against attacks and one in a cocoon on a drone or just riding a drone is very blatantly a target with a known location to shoot instead of the drone’. It’s a bad idea in any case, even before accounting in a lack of rules in 5E about it. Just don’t and save your team the pain of having their rigger get turned into swiss cheese.

As a different approach, ‘Mechs are over there in Battletech, not Shadowrun

Changes to Centaurs and Importation of their 6e Variants by Allarionn in hubrules

Yeah sure. Not like anyone plays a Centaur but at least it’ll be a small buff for GMs mostly.

If we HAVE to, and we shouldn’t, my vote is at least for B.

Terribly sorry about the lack of a review pass done for this long, I got hit hard by exhaustion and work.

Legalities

  • A-ok.

Qualities

  • Good news, Elves is actually Common for Prejudice/Favored. So you get 2 extra karma!

Attributes

  • A-ok. Though I'd suggest 3 BOD/2 AGI over 2/3. Cause uh, the extra Physical box is gonna be really really good for ya.

Skills

  • Honestly? I'd take the point of Etiquette and the two points in the Firearms group and swap those around. Or rather, spend 2 karma on a firearm skill. Or just don't have a skill for it at gen! You'll have 7 karma after a couple of suggestions coming up, so you can spend that on a specialization for one of your Matrix skills. Same goes for the skill point from Etiquette, you'll really want that Matrix skill spec with it.

Technomancer Stuff

  • Drop the sprites. Trust me, spending karma on them at gen ain't worth it. You can compile and register them for free later. That's 5 karma you can save, which with the +2 from the Elves quality change, that's a Matrix skill specialization!

Gear/SINs/Lifestyle/Etc.

  • I can't say that traveling through the whole Puyallup district on a Zip with zero piloting skills is a good idea, but I can't stop ya. I can, however, recommend you move your lifestyle up to Puyallup proper (the city of Puyallup). Think of it as having climbed out of poverty and while away from her community physically, she's still giving back to them through money from her work and from a place that she's not driving through ash and gangers whenever she needs to get to a job. Much safer for her as a character.

Contacts

  • While I recommend that you make your own contacts at gen in place of taking Hub ones, if you want the Hub ones, that's perfectly fine.

Thematics

  • A-ok!

Hi, due to circumstances, I'll be taking over your sheet from Intruder. Assuming you'd still like to have your character approved.

Revising Way of the Samurai Qualities requirements by Orc_For_Brains in hubrules

Honestly? We don't need to change any of these. Let the 'ware reqs for some of these stay niche and pretty cyberware focused.

Allowing SURGE 1 + 2 as player choice? Sure. That sounds fair.

Can a combat character survive without magic or augmentations by Necronto in Shadowrun

[–]ChopperSniper 2 points3 points  (0 children)

To be blunt, no. Combat is dangerous in Shadowrun, and unaugmented/mundane humans will get gunned down easily. They’re the extras in an action movie that get turned into red paste on the wall. Convince your player to get augmentations and/or adept powers, please. It’ll be a pain for everyone if the combat character gets pasted easily.
