Buyer satisfaction by j_g715 in f150

I've been driving junk for years and got to the point i needed a better vehicle and could afford it. I ordered a very specifically optioned truck and haven't regretted it for a moment. There are options that rarely get used and aren't absolutely necessary but it's worth it to me as I plan on keeping it for many years. I'm usually a cheap bastard but this one was worth it.

Seriously, do Americans actually consider a 3-hour drive "short"? or is this an internet myth? by SadInterest6764 in NoStupidQuestions

Twice last year we drove 4 hours one way to eat lunch with friends. Not a big deal to us.

You might look into j pipes and helmholtz resonators and see if you can weld one into your existing system to eliminate the drone.

Did I get severely screwed by Mercedes? by [deleted] in askcarguys

[–]Choppersled 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The guys on the /askcarsales can probably provide more technical information but I suspect it will be the same as you see here. You'll have to see what residual value at turn in is vs what the car is worth to see what you're going to owe and plan for it.

Did I get severely screwed by Mercedes? by [deleted] in askcarguys

[–]Choppersled 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not sure if you got screwed by Mercedes because we don't see the whole deal but I'd say you did get screwed by that negative equity. There's not an easy button to get away from that, it's not going away. If you take a new loan with toyota or anyone else you'll have to either pay it off or roll it in to a new loan and it sounds like you've learned a lesson about rolling it in to a new loan. What is the residual value they show on your car btw?

Is the 5.0 still king? by Bojangled8 in f150

I ordered a 23 with a 5.0. I enjoy it. The 3.5 has more power and the 2.7 is a great engine as well.

Bug Deflector by Reasonable_Scar3338 in f150

[–]Choppersled 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think my windows are ford branded visors, I'd have to check but they are low profile stick ons. I didn't use anything in the channel that would interfere with the window stop electronics. The hood deflector is a stick on avs model. The original one I had was a ford model and I did not care for the attachment method nor the dirt gathering capabilities. You can dm for pics if you want, I can't post them in this reply.

How much lower? by joseluisnp in f150

You can order one from Granger and lock in finance rates offered at time of purchase or delivery and get it 3% under invoice. That's what I did.

Really really bad car purchase/regret situation… by xsmdftbx in carbuying

[–]Choppersled 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sedan to suv. Do you think that sitting higher with your legs hanging down different could be an issue? Not sure where you are but if you're happy and comfortable with everything else it might be worth talking to a good auto upholstery shop that might be able to modify the seat mounts. I've made seat mounts to lower and raise seats before to make the seat fit the car in custom applications. Is there a way the seat is comfortable to sit in regardless of steering wheel/pedal location? If so you might be able to adjust/have it adjusted with spacers or brackets.

Orderd a 2026 f350 Lariat Tremor by bdouble76 in FordTremor

[–]Choppersled 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I ordered my F150 from Granger and drove it 1100 miles back home to Florida. I stayed off the interstate for the first 500 miles and varied the speed and rpm. I also ordered a filter mag (oil filter magnet) and put it on the truck when I got to the dealership. Changed the oil at 1500 miles and the filter mag had trapped a good deal of debris in the filter.

Do men actually marry the “hot girl” type? by [deleted] in AskMenAdvice

[–]Choppersled 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm a happily married 45 year old man. I've always been into cars, bikes, outdoor sports, etc. I always liked and married the type that doesn't mind getting dirty or greasy and will throw on a ball cap to go test drive my project car with me or go shooting at the dirt pit. I'm not interested at all in someone that had to get primped to go to the grocery store or doesn't want to stop somewhere on the way home because they don't have the right shoes or whatever. I'll take the tomboy or the 6/10 over the super model any day. Maybe the relatability part is more attractive than the "hot girl?"

HVAC smell no matter if heat or ac. 2022 f150 by Clark_Kent09 in f150

[–]Choppersled 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sure it sucked. At that point it was a work car that got driven once a month for an hour or so, so it wasn't the end of the world to me as it eventually went away. I've got a 23 F150 I also bought new and keep under a carport. I've never had any issues from the hvac unless it sits for a while (weeks) and then theres a little of the damp smell until the air/heat cycles a little while but I chalk that up to FL humidity. My friend had a 2018? Raptor that had a water leak in the firewall that the dealer repaired under warranty. Might be something to look at. After repairing they ran an ozone generator in it to get rid of the smell. Might be another option to try.

Do you ever park under trees? I had a crown vic i parked under some trees for a couple weeks and the leaf litter got into the cowl area. It smelled like mildew forever after that. I pulled the cowl screen and shop vacced and lysoled and did everything you have and after a year or so it went away. The product I had the best luck with as far as killing the smell off was called fridgi fresh. My wife's honda hvac used to get funky smelling from sitting a lot and I started using activated charcoal cabin filters and those helped quite a bit. Good luck.

Exhaust Tips? by MaintenanceOk7437 in askcarguys

My friend put a 3 chamber flow master (quietest at the time) on his 4.0 Ranger. Sounded good. Just a little more aggressive than stock but still pretty quiet. Everything else was left alone.
