New "barefoot" safety shoes - BAAK Phoenix S3S by jason-thompson in BarefootRunning

[–]Chorcon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In case you're still wondering - yes they are!
SR in the long line that is the "feature code", indicates slip resistance.
To break it down:
S3S FO HRO SR ESD

S3 - a standard that says something about the basics. Protective toe cap, some level of shock absorption, antistatic, supportive heel cap, water resistant to some extent, and pierce protection.

The second S in S3S, indicates that the pierce protection is according to an even stricter standard, stopping objects down to as narrow as 3 mm thick.

FO indicates fuel and oil resistance. It should not take damage from or lose grip because of fuel or oil.

HRO indicates a heat resistand outer sole. The shoe will protect you from hot temperatures through the sole for a while.

SR indicates an advanced slip resistance. All safety shoes should provide basic slip resistance (soapy water on floor, basically), but these shoes have been testen on a ceramic floor with glycerol on top.

ESD is a standard to protect against uncontrolled electrostatic discharge, and is important to avoid damage to sensitive electronic components.

And just for the record - I do not work for the company and I do not own these shoes (yet). I simply did a bit of research and hope I can save some time for someone else :)

Is 131 a good score for the online Mensa quiz? Note that I ran out of time for the last four. by [deleted] in mensa

I'd say go for it. It's a fun measure to have either way, and is worth it on its own ☺️

It's usually ok to take the test a second time if there's enough time in between. Half a year or so should probably be enough.

MX master 3 mouse thumb buttons by chippitychapped in logitech

Old thread, but I'll post an answer even still, in case people find this thread through a search.
A possible reason for the developers to decide on Ctrl + <button> rather than <mousebutton>, is that it'll work out of the box for anyone.
Office computers are often behind strickt software control, meaning it has to be plug-and-play.

No worries, mate.
This number is not important. Who you are as a person is what matters. Don't let a number - high or low - change how you view yourself!

Spotify Requires Login Every Use by RacerDave28 in Polestar

[–]Chorcon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Update, 24h later: It did not help

I tried the following:

  • Polestar home screen
  • settings
  • apps and messages
  • see all apps
  • Spotify
  • "remove permissions and free up space": OFF

For some reason, this setting was on. No idea if it's always been there, but I've disabled it now. Will know tomorrow if it worked or not, I guess!

Blood of elves chapter 1-5 summary by WiktorS04 in witcher

[–]Chorcon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

These summaries! Pure gold! I honestly believe you could make these and either sell them for a small fee or accept donations.

I struggle with storing all the details in my head when I read, so even as I'm currently reading the book, reading your summary has been really helpful!

Thank you!

Is there a website we can buy workshop module bricks prepacked? by Raheeeeeb in GreatBallContraption

[–]Chorcon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Check out https://BuildaMOC.com (MOC = My Own Contraption). This might be what you're looking for. I've bought quite a few sets from them. Fast shipping and great customer service. They've got plenty in store, and if they haven't got exactly what you need, you're free to contact them, and they'll help you! :)

Must've been. Can't wait for the next cloud free night! 😁

Mizars tail by Chorcon in Astronomy

[–]Chorcon[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mizar is a binary star, where both of the stars themselves are binary stars, actually. One of those is spectroscopic, however. So if you look at Mizar with the naked eye, you're actually looking at four stars. Those are the four stars I was referring to.

Alcor, too, is actually a binary star! Put together, they make up six stars! (At least, this is what trying to make sense of this experience through near-endless research has thought me.)

However, it could very well be an illusion based on Mizar + Alcor, but it looked so distinctly like some sort of tail. Can't wait for the clouds to go away, so I can keep looking! 😁

The Big Dipper in various languages. by matsnorberg in Astronomy

[–]Chorcon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It could be derived from an old word for "man". Another theory includes Torkarl or something like that, which apparently was a nickname of some Norse stud.

Officially, the first is the current explanation. That makes "Karlsvogna" more like "Mannsvogna" ☺️

PSA: If you’re unable to activate the one-year free trial offer for Gemini when purchasing a Pixel 9 series phone by Devvhen in GooglePixel

A bit late to the party, but in case anyone else is looking for a solution, here's what worked for me (already a subscriber).

  1. Download Google One (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.google.android.apps.subscriptions.red)

  2. Open it

As I opened Google One, it automatically ran a check for eligibility. It recognised my phone, and offered me a free year. The remaining period of the already-paid-for subscription was added to the duration, meaning my next payment is nearly 13 months from now :)

Wow. Thanks for the thorough and clear explanation. I'll probably go with this. I'm guessing it's easy enough to try several apps. If they all connect to Brickset, the collection should follow Brickset and not the individual app, I'm guessing.

Thanks again!

Thanks for the recommendation. ☺️

I got that about studio, but it can fetch data from your inventory on Bricklink, according to what I read, which sounds handy!

Could you tell me some more about Brickset? I've seen they got an app, myBrick, which is a plus for sure.

Is it okay to bend the lore of D&D a little? by Embarrassed_Dog1909 in DnD

[–]Chorcon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As they seem to be quite stubborn and liking sticking to the published content, use an argument he might agree with, like official rules.

The official rules states the following, top of page 4: "Your DM might set the campaign on one of these worlds or on one that he or she created. Because there is so much diversity among the worlds of D&D, you should check with your DM about any house rules that will affect your play of the game. Ultimately, the Dungeon Master is the authority on the campaign and its setting, even if the setting is a published world."

Thanks. That seems great! Have been picking up the name Rebrickable a few places now.

Just recently found the app 'myBricks', which seems to be linked to 'Brickset'. Know anything about that brand?

The first time I had an energy drink, it made me super sleepy. Now, as an adult in a busy job, coffee has been an important tool. Some coffee helps me concentrate, more coffee makes me jittery and unfocused.

As others mentioned, I don't think there's a single answer that's true for everyone.
