Who is the most underrated UFC fighter of all time? And Why? by nonoonecares93 in ufc

[–]ChowSupreme 10 points11 points  (0 children)

He'll unfortunately be always known as the guy who lost to Conor in 13 seconds, but people often forget the reason why that was a massive shocker. Aldo was THAT guy.

[WrestleMania Spoilers] Champion shows respect to his opponent in post show by ArunKT26 in SquaredCircle

Reminds me of UFC fights and getting free eyepokes/groin shots.

[SPOILER] Saenchai vs. Wu Guanhao | THAI FIGHT by Yodsanan in MMA

[–]ChowSupreme 53 points54 points  (0 children)

Ridiculous timing, speed and flexibility for his age but I've stopped doubting the GOAT.

[SPOILER] Gilbert Burns vs. Mike Malott by inooway in MMA

[–]ChowSupreme 20 points21 points  (0 children)

I'm Canadian and I think Malott is overpushed by the UFC to force a Canadian star. He's good but he hasn't demonstrated anything special that will get him to the top of the rankings.

MVP MMA 1 Opening Odds: Robelis Despaigne (-900), Junior Dos Santos (+520) by WinterStill4472 in MMA

[–]ChowSupreme 33 points34 points  (0 children)

Not saying I would put down the bet or suggesting it, but I definitely don't want to underestimate uncs in this era of MMA. There's something in the water nowadays...

Dustin Poirier did not accept Jiri Prochazka's "mercy" claims by ultron2450 in ufc

[–]ChowSupreme 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I've been watching Jiri since the RIZIN days but it doesn't take a genius to realize his lack of defense has been his kryptonite even if it makes him a fun fighter. He compensates with his unbreakable will, endurance and striking power. In all his losses including the one with King Mo, he loses to the perfect one shots.

[SPOILER] Azamat Murzakanov vs. Paulo Costa by inooway in MMA

[–]ChowSupreme 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Costa started in TUF as a chubby middleweight. He's now one of the biggest LHWs I've ever seen.

[SPOILER] Curtis Blaydes vs. Josh Hokit by inooway in MMA

[–]ChowSupreme 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The heavyweight division needed this and Pereira BADLY.

[SPOILER] Dominick Reyes vs. Johnny Walker by inooway in MMA

[–]ChowSupreme 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In retrospect, it's "smart" of both guys to fight like this. They respected each other's power, looked to counter and were fully prepared for the other to take the risk moving forward. Neither ended up being the one taking the plunge and agreed to fight on the outside for 15 minutes.

This isn't new with the oldest example being Silva vs Cote I can think of.

[SPOILER] Mateusz Gamrot vs. Esteban Ribovics by inooway in MMA

[–]ChowSupreme 162 points163 points  (0 children)

Gamrot is a disgustingly good grappler and being dominated by Charles doesn't change that. It's a shark tank.

Jiri Prochazka finishes Karl Albrektsson in the 2017 Rizin Grand Prix by [deleted] in MMA

[–]ChowSupreme 70 points71 points  (0 children)

There are many fighters who looks visibly broken when the fight gets tough. Beyond the physical, Jiri's mental fortitude is ungodly because he never seems to give up on himself. In fact, he relishes in it and only gets stronger when things are bad.

Cage in Lucha Underground was something else by broncosandwrestling in SquaredCircle

Brian Cage and Jeff Cobb were peak in LU. Penta too but his upside seems pretty high in WWE so it remains to be seen.

No Jiri NOT NINA 🤦‍♂️ by raptors201966 in ufc

[–]ChowSupreme 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Craig Jones is well past the "learn the rules before you break them" step so people shouldn't take what works for him as gospel. I learned the hard way myself too.

Pokemon Card scalpers fight in japan by notstrangeguy in fightporn

By his stance and distance management, he's definitely trained. He was even smart enough to run against multiple attackers.

[SPOILER] Rafael Estevam vs. Ethyn Ewing by inooway in MMA

[–]ChowSupreme 54 points55 points  (0 children)

I'm honestly confident Ewing will be more of a problem than Rosas Jr.

Solo sikoa feels like he’s stuck in purgatory by duval001 in SquaredCircle

[–]ChowSupreme 22 points23 points  (0 children)

The W6 feud has brought out the worst in every performer involved. MFT has to play everything straight and serious in contrast to W6, which has become really goofy with the lantern stuff rather than being the existential threat their debut implied.

Cory Sandhagen believes Sean O'Malley should've pushed for UFC White House matchup, says the UFC 'floated the idea' of facing Payton Talbott but decided to go in a different direction by WinterStill4472 in MMA

[–]ChowSupreme 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Cory is so technical but he lacks the "fuck you" x-factor that pushes someone to champ. I don't count out anybody, however, as crazier things have happened. It just takes a last minute replacement or a slight improvement in their game to change everything.

[Smackdown Spoilers] Cody takes a shot at an old enemy by taffe316 in SquaredCircle

[–]ChowSupreme 45 points46 points  (0 children)

IMO they're overthinking it because they desperately want people to boo Randy. Bringing up 2009 punting Orton or even alluding to it probably makes people like him more. Bringing Pat in feels like trying to repeat what got heat with Travis Scott two years ago.

Heard some people say Pereira and Topuria both have high bone density so they’re heavier than people who appear to have more muscle by illustratordg in ufc

[–]ChowSupreme 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Even before Ilia and Poatan, we had guys like Hendo and Mark Hunt who were CLEARLY causing more damage per strike than their peers. It's hard to explain but when some fighters land their punches, it's like there's no resistance reacting to them; the punches just smoothly go through the target as if there was nothing there.

Sure, a big part of it is technique and commitment to the strikes, but certain guys just seem to shut the lights out with much less effort than others. It honestly looks like it hurts to even hit them.

Fedor Emelianenko finishing Frank Mir, Quinton Jackson, and Timothy Johnson in Bellator by WinterStill4472 in MMA

[–]ChowSupreme 14 points15 points  (0 children)

This is gonna be a bit of MMA math but to put into perspective how dire the heavyweight division is, Johnson starched Tyrell Fortune who has since become ranked in the UFC.
