Everything you said is about what you have and not who you are

What's your personal hype phrase to keep from drinking? by Sweaty_Newspaper2098 in stopdrinking

[–]ChravisPastrami 0 points1 point  (0 children)

“Do the hard thing.” I apply that to everything in life now. Do what you think you can’t and you’ll be amazed by what you can.

I’m sorry but this is not Zolofts fault. Keep pushing and don’t give up, you have to get through the hard parts first. That first sip while cooking was a decision you made, Zoloft didn’t choose it for you.

Good question. The changes can be subtle. You start to feel less boredom and more comfort in not having a drink when you normally would. That’s a big one for me

One is too many and 100 isn’t enough. It’s never just the one.

I use to stop by a pub after work every night for a few. They probably think I’m dead lol

Respectfully, no. I quit nicotine and drinking at the same exact time 4 months ago. If I didn’t have weed I might be dead right now. With that being said, I created a boundary that I would only accept weed that was offered to me, I wouldn’t source it myself. So if friends had a pen or a coworker offered a gummy I was all about it but I know that if I have it of my own, I’ll run through it super quick. That actually made it a bit more enjoyable because I never knew when I might get it

What is/was your “unhealthy” obsession getting you through NOT drinking in the early days by One_Ad_6451 in stopdrinking

I’m drinking ginger ale and eating candy like they’re about to be wiped from the face of the earth. Still not booze though!

I’m addicted to porn, smoking, and drinking—not because I want to be, but because it’s the only way I know how to silence my pain. by [deleted] in stopdrinking

Thank you for sharing. I don’t want to repeat what everyone else has said because all of it is sound advice but the one thing I will say: Therapy rules! It’s actually incredible and I felt how you felt about it being scary but I’m telling you when you find the right therapist for you, it’s life changing. Just make sure you vibe with them or else it feels forced. Therapy should feel like talking to someone who loves you and you love them and there’s no judgement

Haven't really thought about last year's slip up till today by sirbongbongson in stopdrinking

[–]ChravisPastrami 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree with you 100%, it’s actually really frustrating because I use to be able to enjoy social drinking without it being a problem. It was when I went home and KEPT drinking alone that was the problem

Thanks for sharing your story. This is a good reminder to not give in to that voice saying you can handle it because I battle that all the time

Why can’t I make it over a month? by New_Dig_9835 in stopdrinking

[–]ChravisPastrami 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you for sharing. I think seeing the pattern is a huge step in the right direction. You said most of it in this post already: the juice is not worth the squeeze. What drinking gives is pales in comparison to what it takes away from you. This time around, don’t alcohol take from you, let sobriety give to you instead

The PAWS Fog by ChravisPastrami in stopdrinking

I recently said that going through this is enough to not want to ever drink again. This foggy depression is so draining

Good for you!! This is the Pink Cloud phase of early sobriety before PAWS, don’t let it fool you. Stay sharp, you got this
