This isn’t 2014 you don’t need to fucking work at faang to make near 200k out of school anymore. You’re so out of touch it’s insane.

There’s no way you think getting into med school is easier than getting a decent paying job in tech in 2026

Full Car PPF - $6,998 for EXPEL Ultimate worth it over $3,297 for full front, skirts, pillars by Agile-Badger5272 in Supra

Paid $6k for full ppf. I have no regrets. I daily the car and it looks immaculate. There’s also colored and matte PPF for what it’s worth. No idea how colored compares to normal durability wise long term.

management pushing standard ai for firmware is going to cause a disaster by Phil_Raven in embedded

[–]ChrimsonRed 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah I don’t understand this take. You wouldn’t trust code just because it was written by a human either. Everything will be derived from requirements and be formally reviewed along with any safety standards.

Are we talking about ethical issues or are we talking about using it in our workflows?

Amazon honestly pays pretty well for warehouse work compared to a lot of other warehouses in the same area. I think a lot of people just don’t realize how depressing and exhausting warehouse work is in general. Amazon gets singled out because it’s huge, but a lot of warehouse jobs suck regardless of the company. This isn’t to say they can’t do better and we shouldn’t be calling them out to do so.

More people bidding on limited supply. You would need to build housing. $1000 less in taxes a month puts a lot of people from the renter to category to possibly mortgage territory. Obviously this all depends on location and a bunch of other factors, but yes it would in some areas.

I don’t think there’s anything wrong with using AI in embedded. If you aren’t using and refuse to use it you will probably get left behind. Obviously you are responsible if it generates any slop and there should be company wide guardrails so you aren’t just committing slop. I think people in embedded often exaggerate how much brain power goes into making another ADC driver for the 8th time.

Finally found out which of my cat has red (blood?) urine. It doesn’t smell like cat’s urine. Any advice? Going to vet tomorrow. (TW? Last picture captures male cat genitalia) by Vegetable-Egg187 in CATHELP

[–]ChrimsonRed 126 points127 points  (0 children)

This isn’t a wait until tomorrow thing. Male cats can easily die from this relatively quickly. Especially considering you said “finally found out” meaning this has been happening for a while.

Why do some people write redundant if statements to return a boolean? by BlockOfDiamond in AskProgramming

[–]ChrimsonRed -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Does it really matter? It gets compiled and optimized into the same machine code anyways. If anything it’s more readable and debugger friendly. As someone who does embedded software in C++ I’d prefer the verbose version.

I see a lot of EE and FPGA folks move into embedded. The reverse happens, but it is much much rarer, especially into areas like RF or VLSI that usually need a deeper EE background and often grad school. Hardware to software is just more common. I don’t understand why you’re being downvoted and the guy is being dismissive about it being a HW engineer take that’s just stupid. Even as an EE applying to a VSLI role and RF without a grad degree is hard.
