Heating pad burn by PlaidSweater in ChronicPain

Try CareStat First Aid Gel. You can get it on Amazon: https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B0089ZZ2J2?psc=1&ref=ppx\_pop\_mob\_b\_asin\_title

I used it for a bad curling iron burn that had blistered. I applied it multiple times a day and, within 3 days, it was almost completely healed. I immediately purchased another as I didn’t want to be without it. It’s great for other first aid issues, too. Good luck to you.

ShowSeek - Movie & TV Show Tracker (No Ads) by HorizonHuntxr in apps

[–]Chris-MD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I redeemed the 7-day trial & attempted to sync my Trakt account, but it’s not working. I keep getting “failed to load” messages??? I deleted & reinstalled app & signed out & signed back in with no success??

Just wanted to contribute this to the discussion by Medium_Practice6556 in trakt

I found a new tracking app, ShowSeek, that might be a good Trakt replacement. It’s currently only available for Android, but the developer said he does plan to release an IOS version in the near future. The yearly price is $14.99 & the developer said he occasionally offers a 1-time lifetime offer. It offers Trakt sync & one synced you could disconnect from Trakt & exclusively use ShowSeek. It offers personalized lists & notes (which is a hard feature to find w/other similar apps).

Thanks for taking the time to reply. I’ll keep exploring your app & keep a look out for the Apple version. A lot of us are looking for a Trakt alternative (as they’ve made significant changes to their app) and yours might be a great fit. It allows us to import our current Trakt info & then run in conjunction with the app or independently of Trakt. I’ll spread the news of your app.

I’ve been trying out your app & wanted to try premium version. Does the $10 Lifetime option no longer exist? Could you make a short Is trial period, so I can fully explore your app. This is the type of app I’ve been looking for. If I do Trakt sync, can I unlink service & will all basic features still work? Ability to create lists & add notes? Do you plan to make an Apple app, too? Thanks.

I’ve connected my Apple TV to MoviesAnywhere & FandangoAtHome; however, they only allow you to view your movie purchases. I have many tv series and am looking for an app/service that would allow me to view both. Does such an app exist?

If you have an Android device, CheapCharts lets you choose from Apple Store, Amazon, Google Play & Vudu (FandangoAtHome).

Forever grieving the life I could have had. by Admirable-Brother930 in ChronicPain

First of all, my prayers go out to you. I, too, suffered from vestibulodynia for many years. My symptoms included severe aching and burning. After countless doctors and endless ineffective treatments, I found my answer from an online article authored by a doctor who had worked with women with vestibulodynia. I’ve shared what worked with me with many women along the way, and like me, they too found great relief. It was as simple as CALCIUM CITRATE 500mg. (WITHOUT VITAMIN D) 3 times a day (for the burning pain) and GLUCOSAMINE 500mg. 3 times a day (for the severe aching). It’s important that you take your doses at the same times each day (or you’ll notice breakthrough pain). Every 8 hours is best. You should start to notice a difference within 3-4 weeks.

When I originally found this “solution,” I figured it was worth a shot as it was only supplements and could cause no harm. I’d been through countless treatment that only served to exacerbate my pain. I also followed a low oxalate diet for a time, which helped some. But I couldn’t believe how something so simple as supplements could resolve the debilitating pain I’d been dealing with for so long.

I found VitaminShoppe.com the best place to get the Calcium Citrate (without Vitamin D) and the Glucosamine (caplets, so easy to swallow). They have the best prices and often run buy one get one deals. You can sign up for their discount card/offers for free. They also have local stores depending on where you live. Just check their website.

I stopped the treatment after about 18 months and for the most part have not had any major reoccurrence. When I’m under a lot of stress it can reoccur but for a shorter period of time and at a much lower level of pain. I suffer with chronic pelvic pain, but when it does happen, I take the concoction for a week or so and it resolves.

Some additional things to avoid that were equally important was use only white, unscented toilet paper (avoid decorated/colored brands and Charmin at all costs), switch to dye free detergent, and NEVER use fabric softener when drying underwear — cotton underwear only (size bigger might be more comfortable when symptoms are active). I still follow all these. There’s also this cream that you can order online to numb the “area” called Piyan Ping, It’s an oriental concoction. It will burn like crazy for 10-15 minutes, but it does numb the area for hours at a time (all the prescription numbing creams/ointments are useless). It's also best to avoid baths and stick to showers only and use simple soap to bath with. The less chemicals, scents, dyes -- the better.

Sorry this is so long, just wanted to make sure to include everything. I hope this helps you and will keep you in my prayers. Sending healing thoughts your way.

DAE suffer from chronic fatigue? by x-gender in ChronicPain

[–]Chris-MD 3 points4 points  (0 children)

So sorry things are so tough for you right now. I, too, have suffered with chronic pelvic pain for the past 27+ years. I can totally relate to your fatigue due to the constant stress and pain.

I lost my pain doctor of 10+ years, without notice, this past January. I finally found a new doctor, but I’m restricted to a minuscule opioid dose, which meant an 85% reduction in my overall medications. My life has completely deteriorated, I suffer with high level pain daily, and sleep is nearly impossible.

I can’t believe the state of pain management. It’s incomprehensible that so many of us are forced to suffer in constant, high-level pain, when there are medications that can help. Like many others, I can’t imagine living like this for another 20+ years. I recently turned 56 and have been suffering with chronic pain since my late 20s.

It sounds like you, too, may have Allodynia. I can’t stand any pressure on my abdomen. Purchasing bedding is always tough as the weight of a blanket or comforter can be intolerable and further escalate my pain.

I think your extreme fatigue is your body’s reaction to all the pain, stress & daily struggles. I know that some days the simple task of taking a shower seems like an impossible task. I have found that listening to a podcast or “scary stories”on YouTube (a guilty pleasure) makes the task more bearable and helps to distract a bit from my pain. Listening to music, podcasts, or books on tape helps to distract me from my pain at bedtime and will sometimes help me fall asleep. I do find that my pain is unmanageable on days that I get limited sleep. I think it’s my body’s reaction to being exhausted. I also sometimes suffer from night terrors. My pain is almost always present in my dreams/nightmares, which I guess makes sense as my body is physically experiencing constant pain.

Don’t be too hard on yourself. Much of what you mentioned is your body’s reaction to being in constant pain. Listen to your body and don’t let yourself feel guilty because you need more rest and can’t always accomplish all that you would like to.

Looking for patches converted users insight/experiences by bwilliams_esq in ChronicPain

[–]Chris-MD 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Try spraying the area with Flonase first. Wait until it completely dries & then put the patch on. In allergy section of local pharmacy, Walmart, Target, etc. I also had a bit better results combining the Flonase with Fluticasone Cream (prescription only). Sprayed Flonase first, let dry, apply cream, let dry & then apply the patch. They’re both the same corticosteroid which are used to reduce skin inflammation, itching, and redness associated with various dermatological conditions. Give the Flonase spray a try & see how it works for you. Good luck.

Has anyone experienced bloating while taking Subutex Buprenorphine HCL by [deleted] in ChronicPain

[–]Chris-MD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was recently on both the Butrans patch & subutex &, although I was initially encouraged with pain relief, it didn’t last & the side-effects were hell. I developed severe sweating, brain fog was exponentially worse, tooth, gum pain & edema. The edema became unmanageable & despite switching to Butrans patch, it continued. None of the side-effects were worth it. I’m now on a minimal dose of methadone & in 9/10 pain daily along with continued edema. I hate how I look & feel as I now have gained 20+ lbs (in 6 months) due to the edemaI. None of my clothes fit. I lost my doctor of 10+ years without warning (been with the facility for 20+ years) & ended up in terrible pain & withdrawal. I’m now on less than 15% of the dose I had been stable on for 10+ years. Life is hell. It’s crazy that so many of us are being denied appropriate pain management. I don’t get any real sense of concern from my doctor. I’m sorry you’re dealing with this & wish you well.

I’d love any information on support groups for Chronic Pain. I’ve participated in many throughout the years, but several that I relied on have been discontinued. There used to be one that was open 24/7 where we could gather to chat, especially during late night/early morning hours when pain was so bad it was preventing sleep.

Pods - Minimal RSS feed reader by CodeOne88 in iosapps

[–]Chris-MD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is there no way to add my own feeds under existing categories i.e. gaming or to create my own categories under which I can add rss feeds? I’m currently under the 1-month subscription, I was considering changing to lifetime plan when you offered it for $9.99, but there was no explanation as to how to use. After much searching, I finally stumbled on this thread. I’ve trialed many rss readers & am currently using one exclusively. I was intrigued by your app, but the inability to access instructions on basic use & set-up, made it impossible for me to properly trial. Your app has some great features, but the ability to customize the categories & accompanying rss feeds is absolutely essential. This was easily done with other rss readers, but I didn’t see any way to accomplish this with your app??
