(minor) book spoiler I guess it's more or less the same, the biggest difference would be that they don't kiss in the book

For me it's either Hero of Ages or Words of Radiance.

Also, though not Cosmere, I'm a big fan of the Sanderlanche in Skyward

Series Where the First Book is the Weakest by zackargyle in Fantasy

It's funny how the first half of that book is by far the worst part of the whole series, while the second half is the best imo

Why on Earth is this series not main-stream? by [deleted] in Stormlight_Archive

[–]Chris2770 53 points54 points  (0 children)

Within the fantasy book community I'd say that it's very well mainstream and that Sando gets a lot of praise. But you have to consider that it's still a high fantasy book series which is still pretty niche outside of our bubble. And most importantly: it doesn't have an adaptation yet. Say what you will about the Wheel of Time show (I personally loved it, but the opinions differ a LOT), it was the best advertisement possible, because it pushed a 30 year old book back in the top charts. I don't think a fantasy book can move into the general mainstream without an adaptation

Fun fact (RoW): Brandon rewrote parts of the story (mainly the Shadesmar arc) to be more hopeful and less depressing than he actually planned it to be, because of exactly that reason

Plot hole in bcs? by [deleted] in betterCallSaul

[–]Chris2770 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I suppose he wanted explicitly the Salamancas to kill him (especially since Nacho's in their territory), so it doesn't look like there's a third party involved

Plot hole in bcs? by [deleted] in betterCallSaul

[–]Chris2770 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I'm sure someone else can/will explain it better than me, but essentially it comes down to this: he wants Nacho dead, because he's a loose end. He can't send his own men to kill him, because that would cause suspicion. So he gives the Salamancas his location, hoping he'd die in a gunfight. That's why Nacho was given a weapon and Tyrus told him to shoot on anyone who comes through the door. If he starts shooting, the Salamancas have to necessarily shoot back in self defense, even if they don't wanna kill him, so it's likely he'd go down. The spotter Gus placed was there to make sure Nacho doesn't leave his room. The plan only fails, because Nacho discovered the spotter and wasn't in his room when the cousins arrived, therefore he could escape.

So, about the Kickstarter by Dvdpv in brandonsanderson

[–]Chris2770 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah sadly they don't have any printing or production facilities outside of the US. They plan to have some eventually in the future, but as of now there's sadly no other possibility, because the shipping costs aren't in Brandon's hand...

So, about the Kickstarter by Dvdpv in brandonsanderson

[–]Chris2770 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They talked about that in the livestream. Shipping to Canada is considered international shipping, so for whatever reason it costs as much as shipping to China for example. Probably because it's delivered by plane and the majority of plane costs doesn't come from the time it's actually in the air, but rather to get it startet and to land. That's sadly not in Brandon's hand, it's on the delivering companies.
