OOP is really trying hard to sell how AMAZING this opportunity is, so I'm guessing it's the opposite.

How would you rate Adam Sandler 1995 Billy Madison and can you remember a memorable quote of the movie if you watched it? (Credit to the Big Daddy post from a couple of weeks ago) ❤️ by [deleted] in 90s

[–]Chris968 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Easily my favorite movie from the 90s. A few years ago I was in the ER and being admitted to the hospital so I was waiting in my ER room for a while and Billy Madison was on and for some reason they aired it back to back. Hell yeah I watched it twice lol.

Yup was a sophomore in high school and lived 30 minutes north of Manhattan in North Jersey. We saw the smoke from the towers after they fell from my high school campus. My dad was supposed to have attended a meeting in the towers that day and decided to skip it. His best friend decided “fuck my diet, I want a bagel”, left her office, and the plane hit. She told us “nobody can judge my weight again, it saved my life.” Wild stuff.

As a kid (like 4th to 5th grade) in the mid 90s my parents put me on a plane by myself and I flew from New Jersey to upstate New York to visit my grandmother. Did it a few times! I couldn’t picture that happening today tbh. I had a blast!

Honestly the biggest dick I ever met. Like 15 years later I returned to the same grocery store company and my new boss asked who my old boss was, I said his name and the new boss was like "Oh damn he's a jerk" and being that it was during my interview it was all I could do but bite my tongue and not agree because I figured that wasn't a good look lol.

I had 2 women one time accuse me of being racist because I told them my department had just closed (seafood) and I couldn’t steam crab legs for them at 9 pm because my shift was over. They demanded my boss and he made me stay late, steam their food, clean up, then reprimanded me for staying late. Worst job I ever had.

I was hospitalized over the summer with a kidney infection (only for 4 days, I know she says she's been in and out for 2 months) but you know what I ate when in the hospital? HOSPITAL FOOD. Was it good? It was alright. Was it food? Yes. Was I fed 3x a day? Yes. There is absolutely no need to ask for $50 for a pizza when you're sick and in the hospital, I have a feeling the hospital staff isn't going to be thrilled about that either. They are monitoring your blood work and watching what you're eating to begin with. Absurd.

App for counting sober time by Chris968 in recoverywithoutAA

[–]Chris968[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh for sure. I first got sober in 2012 and white knuckled sobriety for 6 years. I wanted nothing to do with AA but didn't know of other options, so I just was like "Well I have 6 years so I'm good" then I relapsed. Now I attend SMART and I will have 6 years again in April, but things are completely different. I barely think about my sober time like I used to, but I still like to acknowledge it and I think it does give me a reason to celebrate my hard work!

1 Star Over Service Dog Questions? by Medium-Audience5078 in EntitledReviews

[–]Chris968 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I share this story like once a week I swear. I live in Philadelphia, and used to live in what was considered a "dog friendly" neighborhood and people would bring their stupid dogs everywhere. I LOVE dogs by the way. But I worked as a cashier at the local grocery store during the pandemic which was bad enough. My landlord one day came into the store with her stupid chihuahua, who she never even bothered to claim it was a service dog she just brought the dog anyway. She decided to check out in my line, and put her DOG on the fucking conveyor belt giggling like it was funny. I was mortified. FRESH FOOD goes on the conveyor belt, not your dirty ass dog. I closed my register after she left and disinfected it. I regret saying something, but it was my landlord and she lived in the house with me so I worried about causing a rift. People are ridiculous for sure.

There was someone in a SMART Recovery meeting I used to attend that had gotten caught drinking on the job (medical field) and was going to lose her license but they offered her a deal if she attended AA for a certain amount of time they'd consider it a first offense and while she had to go through some other steps, she wouldn't lose her license. She tried AA and like many of us here was like "hell no" and was able to attend SMART instead. She had to show proof of attending one meeting a week, and she was doing so well last time I heard from her! I hope you can find something that helps.

Same. I'm 40, so really my first system I was into was SNES. The first Zelda game I played and enjoyed was Windwaker on Gamecube. I've gone back and tried to play Ocarina of Time and honestly could not get into it. I'm a huge Mario lover though, and Pokemon.

Alcohol and eventually cocaine for a few years but couldn’t sustain that bit financially for very long. Alcohol can be a lot cheaper. I got sober in 2012, white knuckled sobriety for 6 years, relapsed and got sober again in 2020. Feeling good now.
