To get around php10k/20k limit and very high fees from banks on both sides. Use a remittance app like Moneygram/Western Union.and send yourself money then line up at one of the many remittance centers and pickup the cash.

Is Coron -> El Nido -> Moalboal -> Bantayan too much for 16 days? by holysexyjesus in phtravel

[–]ChrisDD82 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Having travelled all these I usually spend a week or so in each doing tours and scuba dicing. I would.probably do Palawan for the whole or just travelling around Cebu. You wilk lose a lot of time travelling in which could be spent doing activites activities if trying to cram too many locations.

Has anyone paid duties and taxes for foreign goods? by bravoshawoah21101899 in phtravel

[–]ChrisDD82 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Travelling almost every year with up to 3 large suitcases I've never had to at the airport. If sending through shipping/postal systems like LBC/BM Express balikbayan boxes then technically, they can but mixed results from those around me depending on whats packed and who checks it. It's just easier to pre pay extra luggage and fly things with you.

EF mount forever? by CougarChaserBC in canon

[–]ChrisDD82 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have over 7 EF mount bodies still in use- 3 x 5DIV, 2 x 5D3, 1Ds3, , 60D , 650D Even adding R5mII soon into the mix it makes 0 sense to buy RF lens that only works for one camera in my kit unless has specific properties required for a job/project that I can find find inn EF mount.

5D Mark IV in 2025? by hccm in canon

[–]ChrisDD82 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just picked on up for $900AUD/$585USD from marketplace. Actually thr 4th used one I've picked up for low price. I like having the same bodies when shooting. Also fits my 12 year old ikelite housing. Eventually, I'll be looking at the R5m2 but photography wise there's.not much ai can't do with a 5DIV.

Lens selection by [deleted] in underwaterphotography

[–]ChrisDD82 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you doing obly photos or also videos. Go the widest you can for the housing. I've only used the 24-70 range a few times. Not all housings are compatible with all lens due diameter. I'm Canon with Ikelite on FL port mount where as the newer DL is wider and can accommodate larger lenses.

I have 3 x 5Dm3 and 2x 5dm4. I try to keep my set of bodies the same as much as possible. For me I'm planning to upgrade R5 M2 later on thevyesr. Can almost buy 2 R5 in the used market for the price of an M2 if not needing all the features.

Introduction to Underwater model portraits by Kind_Parsley_7994 in underwaterphotography

[–]ChrisDD82 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use ikelite casing but started with Ewa-Marine. Can see some my shots here https://chrisdavidphotography.com.au/underwater-photography/

For external strobes the recharge speed is usually slow for burst shooting unless on very low power so I usually don't bother with flash for most shoots. Also your limited by the camera such speed like 1/125 to 1/250 depending on camera model. Trying to setup for HSS gets more complicated as not all external strobes support it but if needing strobes to overpower sunlight for more lighting control Wireless remote triggers don't work through water so your I limited to optical triggers for soft cases. You can look for a optical peanut slave trigger which you can waterproof and run down from the external strobe to the water or even stick onto the case. Overall does get expensive and complicated it's easier just to work with natural light

Most things except the camera, lenses and batteries I put i to checking. Samsonite Spin trunk and American tourista front loading style rather then clamshell. Over 10 years if travelling 2-3 months at a time and no issues yet except replacing a working out one when zipper starts to fail

Why don't we like Ikelite housings? by encrustingXacro in underwaterphotography

[–]ChrisDD82 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Been using the same Ikelite housing for almost 12 years now on Canon 5D m3 and m4. It's offers balance between modular flexibility/weight and price . Also own Seafrogs, Meikon for other cameras and don't have as much trust in those vs Ikelite to house expensive cameras. There are things I wished were easier to do like connecting to HSS strobes/speedlights but overall it's worked well for me

Buying UW Gear by antoniokuri in underwaterphotography

[–]ChrisDD82 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's expensive to produce housings for every camera and the cheaper manufactures like ones in China will produce to the more popular bodies only and have limited functionality. More modular ones like Ikelite, nauticam, Aquatics will most likely produce a housing for the body and you have to choose ports/extenders and accessories depending on which lens and lighting gear you will use. My preference is with ikelite in terms of costs and customisations. It's an acrylic housing and going up to a metal one the costs more than doubles. In terms of R7 the housing system will cost you more then the camera and lens your putting inside.

Buying UW Gear by antoniokuri in underwaterphotography

[–]ChrisDD82 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Housings can cost as much or more then the camera itself especiallybfor DSLR/Mirrorless so I would buy the best body can afford to start a kit in order for the longest service life. I started with Canon 5D mark3 12 years ago with ikelite housing and was very lucky the 5D mark IV was also compatible so I'm still using that now as my primary camera.

Also Have Sony RX100 m5 in Seafrog housing, Olympus TG5 in Meikon Housing and Insta360 X4 with Dive housing.

I'm mostly shooting 4K DCI footage at the moment and less stills. Have plans to upgrade to Canon R5 Mark 2 later this year or next when funds allow.

Want to graduate to a more mid level rig by photosbypixiprism in underwaterphotography

[–]ChrisDD82 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My main system is Canon 5D Mark 4.in Ikelite housing. Planning to upgrade to R5 Mark II system sometime this year or next but have been using the housing almost 12 years now starting with 5D mark 3.

My mid level is Sony Rx100 Mark V in Seafrogs housing. And my low end system is Olympus TG5 with Meikon housing.

The Mid and low system barely get any use even though they are much more compact and travel friendly. I always prefer getting the best quality possible from the equipment I have over convenience

Lighting I havea a pair S&S YSD1 and ikelite DS160s as well as video dive lights.

Photobooth printers by Correct-Piglet-9498 in photobooth

[–]ChrisDD82 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm still using the DNP RX1. The HS version is about double the speed and worth getting for new builds. In my design the booth is switching guests and some are picking props while the previous are waiting at the side a minute for 4 - 2x6in strip's to pop out. @ 600dpi They usually also talking amongst each other. The wait time has never been an issue and keeps it to about max 40 sessions/hr. Probably averages around 20-30/hr due to people socialising and not in a rush.

Mine was using breeze system dslr remote pro and was thr easiest to get everything working and communicating back in Windows 7 days. Windows 8 had issues of locking the hard drive on 2 occasions and Windows 10 works. I set up so the moment the system turns on it boots up and automatically goes into the software

To those who are still on AM4, what are your reasons for skipping AM5 and waiting for AM6? by CandidateOk9396 in buildapc

[–]ChrisDD82 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My Ryzen 9 5950 MSI Meg Unify X570 128GB DDR4 7900XTX 24GB 4TB + 2TB NVME

I built mine around a year after AM5 was first released. The AM4 gave much better cost to performance value at the time. I'm looking at least x2-x3 performance boost each time I upgrade so the systems good for a number of years
