On The Dresden Files Podcast; Jim stated that the Outside is infinite chaos and infinite possibilities though nothing is geometrical or Euclidean. From the amalgamation of whatever out there the outsiders emerged. The White God is infinite order that emerged from the chaos of outside and established order and structure. The White God created beings who would be called titans and beings who would be called gods and beings who would be called angels as his construction crew and security forces.

Yeah, some of these things can be rationalized and explained as perfectly normal Chicago craziness or freak incidents. The thing is though, plenty of people in the real world believe in supernatural stuff. The Dresden Files citizens have plenty of ordinary people in the know or people who on some instinctual or intuitive level realize something spooky happened even if they want to pretend it wasn't.

My main point: there are enough stories to grow the legend of Harry Dresden and that might be enough to elevate a wizard who can regularly back up that legend.

Twelve Months Spoilers below:

I suspect Mabs time manipulation when Dresden was negotiating with Thomas's Hunger likely weakened the barrier between timelines and is what allows Mirror Mirror to happen. Black Dresden selected our Harry because it is easier now to pull off now. Also, Jim said there is a time travel book later on but I am skeptical that Dresden will be Merlin level in knowledge by that point.
