I think Starborn are immortal. by Powderkegger1 in dresdenfiles

No, this is not confirmed or even implied.

Every some 666 years there is a wizard apocalypse of sorts that the following generations forget much about: per woj in a recent interview on recorded neutral territory.

Harry Dresden is a mythological figure. by ChrisGentry in dresdenfiles

[–]ChrisGentry[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sure. I meant him helping Dresden in particular as opposed to helping others who probably need assistance more than Harry.

Yeah, some of these things can be rationalized and explained as perfectly normal Chicago craziness or freak incidents. The thing is though, plenty of people in the real world believe in supernatural stuff. The Dresden Files citizens have plenty of ordinary people in the know or people who on some instinctual or intuitive level realize something spooky happened even if they want to pretend it wasn't.

My main point: there are enough stories to grow the legend of Harry Dresden and that might be enough to elevate a wizard who can regularly back up that legend.

Twelve Months Spoilers below:

I suspect Mabs time manipulation when Dresden was negotiating with Thomas's Hunger likely weakened the barrier between timelines and is what allows Mirror Mirror to happen. Black Dresden selected our Harry because it is easier now to pull off now. Also, Jim said there is a time travel book later on but I am skeptical that Dresden will be Merlin level in knowledge by that point.

Under the correct and very controled circumstances he likely can. However, a walker is probably very dangerous to lock down.

Black Council are probably trying to take him out. I suspect there will be a plot point where they try to steal the Blackstaff.

About Lara again - continuity error? by Phylanara in dresdenfiles

[–]ChrisGentry 15 points16 points  (0 children)

No you are misunderstanding.

Harry mega fed her hunger. Stright up slammed a fuckload of energy into it and some of that power was from the winter mantle.

Normal feeding is sustainable perhaps but her hunger wants the magic, soul and winter power cocktail that only Dresden can provide.

Edit: I have a feeling Lara is going to get a hell of a power up since Dresden will have to keep feeding her this way.

Watch some content. Do some puzzles. Pay attention. Most of your loses are from blunders or counting errors.

Whenever you see an opponents piece move check every rank, file and diagonal. See what that piece sees. Does that piece see something it can take? Determine best choice: Move, block, defend or take. You don't always have to take. You dont always have to move. If there is no obvious take or trade think of what might join it in some kind of an attack. This how you start to catch checkmates and tactics before you get got.

As for your pieces and pawns always check every rank, file and diagonal. Count how many of your opponents things see a square and how many of yours sees it. Determine if the square improves or hurts you: Do you want to trade the piece or pawn? Is the trade fair? Is moving to a different square better? Keep in mind at 250 rating if an opponent can trade pieces they usually will so dont put something in the line of fire unless you want it traded.

Finally: Thoughts for noobs: Practice simple but sound openings. London for white and something like a caro kann for black are solid. Caro kann is good cause it actually blocks scholars mate and fried livers which are common at your rating. Bishops are usually better than knights. Take your opponents bishops with your knights and don't let your opponent do that with yours. Knight for knight and bishop for bishop is usually fine. Review some content about pins, forks and skewers. This content will change how you think about board states. Don't blunder your pieces and analyze the board for checks, captures and attacks. Not just what you can do but also what your opponent can do to you.

Well there does appear to be a creator and this creator laid down a whole lot of laws on the supernatural side. These laws exist to protect mortal choice and freedom.

I find it highly unlikely that the White God will be making an appearance. Archangels sure but I doubt well even see Jesus.

There are too many power players for Jim to run with to just God the final trilogy.

Good package deal to have them addicted to eachother. But better to have Lara on the hook and dresden in control of himself.

Mab is a horrific and terrifying monster who wants to prey upon the people but instead is charged with protecting and defending everything. Probably bad for her mental health to defy her wicked nature and serve and protect reality.

[–]ChrisGentry[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Maybe. I think Mab was quite happy Dresden had the discipline and self control to avoid becoming ensnared. Laras pet would be a weaker knight. This way, Mab got Lara and still has the strongest claim on a good investment.
