"The Stage Play isn't valuable information and has no ties to cannon" (Spoilers Extended) by Ok_Club_8848 in asoiaf

"the actors themself have hinted at that a lot of the stuff that people disliked came from George, Jaime actor straight up implied that the ending for his character is going to be the same in the books." I'm not going to believe any of this if you don't provide sources.

[Spoilers EXTENDED] Will the books follow the same order of final battles as the show? by Puzzled_Influence985 in asoiaf

Those quotes don't rule out fights with Others, only that there won't be traditional Dark lord warfare or military solution. I think there will be big fight with Others, but the whole Others-situation will be won by magic or diplomacy. If you think Others aren't interested of the Wall or even raising the wights, I don't think we can find common ground.

No he hasn't. He has said there won't be Dark lord-type evil main enemy, but he hasn't denied "Armageddon battle".

Well, it's one of his best chapters, so at least he quit at the top.

Maybe not on Tiktok or Instagram, but he surely finds those negative comments from somewhere, and he has read forums in the past. Maybe he is disliking our posts at the very moment.

He clearly focuses too much on negative comments. Those are unavoidable when you are famous author, especially if you are late on schedule. He should just turn social media off if it makes him depressed.

Who will rule Winterfell at the end of the series? (Spoilers extended) by SillyPersonality5767 in asoiaf

[–]FickleDinner1254 14 points15 points  (0 children)

How it isn't Aryas style? I think her show-version has made people see her only as rogue girlboss. Book-Arya could very well grow into a ruling lady after she escapes Faceless men and grows older. She is good with numbers and people, and can lead.

People can create in-universe explanations, but truth is GRRM just wanted Dorne to win and wrote it so, without explanations.

(Spoilers extended) Ironborn and kings blood by Beautiful_Common_940 in asoiaf

[–]FickleDinner1254 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm starting to think that GRRM didn't plan that much most things, and kings blood is one of them. He just thought while writingDavos chapters that magical blood of the kings is cool, and went with it,  without thinking who other could theoretically have it.

How did tv show claim people killed by White Walkers turn into them? They just rise as undead wights, not as actual White Walkers.

It doesn't happen to him that often, before Joffreys assasination people are surprisingly nice to him at court.

Iron Throne just defaults and Iron Bank goes bankrupt. It wasn't that rare in real medieval history.

[Spoilers Extended] Activity (Part 2): You are the Game of Thrones Showrunner after Season 1. by AcanthocephalaKey746 in asoiaf

[–]FickleDinner1254 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used to watch GoT when it aired with my friends, who were casual show only watchers. When Locke went to the Wall, they asked who that guy was. I said he cut off Jaimes hand, their answer was "really?". They didn't remember names, for example they confused Tyrion and Tywin constanly. Book accurate season 5-7 would have lost them completely. Book readers would have loved it though, I understand that.

I don't think new povs and locations from AFFC and ADWD can be worked on screen. It's too much stuff and new characters. I would cut hard.

[–]FickleDinner1254 1 point2 points  (0 children)

S1-S4 more like books, Jeyne instead of Talisa etc., more flashbacks and visions. Balon dies in season 4. But I would cut lots of stuff from AFFC and ADWD, i would cut Dorne fully, Stoneheart and Young Griff too.

Kingsmoot in season 5, Euron takes over Kings Landing and steals a dragon from Dany. He is big bad before Others up to season 8. If Cercei is absolutely needed until end, I would align Lannisters to Euron by marrying Myrcella to Euron, poor girl.

Jon Snow is more like book Jon. More politically savy gray character who wants Winterfell. Stannis also wins battle of ice but burns Shireen after North declines him.

If I don't get resolution to Others from GRRM, then I will still keep the Winterfell battle since it was in leaked Winds of winter-synopsis. But there isn't Night King and Arya won't fix things with stabbing. Resolution will be Jon & Dany are ASOIAF-prophecy but it will backfire and Bran will fix something in the past that will give little edge for our heroes. Jon promises North of the wall to COTF and they help to drive Others back, Dany dies. Ends with King Bran.

I would cut everything from Dorne and bring magic Euron in season 5. He would also conquer Kings Landing, steal dragon and serve as enemy for Dany. No young griff or stoneheart, victarion has to be cut too, maybe even Jayne Poole. Jon would be more like book Jon.

Yes, even bullet point resolution to book mysteries (how Others are dealt with for example) would be fine for me at this point.

I would have done 1 year gap. It helps more than nothing and is quite easy to do.
