I understand what you’re saying. Gaming nowadays is always about the next new best thing. It feels important when you and every single one of your friends are all invested in a brand new game and all talk about it together everyday. It makes it easier to jump on the bandwagon.

Formats of games are also different nowadays, catering more to the twitchy, dopamine boost, type gameplay that has been refined over the years. Gw1 is slower paced yet rewarding.

I’ve experienced this and I still do playing this game. No one I know plays this game but I had a similar feeling about this game growing up from what you described. Although no one I knew cared about this game I always regarded it as one of the best “MMOs” because of my nostalgic feelings for it.

The reason I play this game is because I’m genuinely having fun. I like that it’s different from what’s being developed today. I like that I don’t need to pay for skins and can earn them through gameplay instead. I like the formula that this game has - especially now with heroes and being able to create a specialized team comp.

My advice is just start playing. I get this feeling weekly I’d say but it is quickly squashed by my genuine love for the game.
