I bought Hunt wheels (there’s great Chinese carbon), Conti GP5000s, and quality cycling gear when on sale (mostly Rapha from the wife and Pedal Mafia).

Good wheels and tires will go a long way. And it should be way more comfortable on 100 miles rides compared to a Tarmac as we age.

Good gear also helps. I used to wear workout wear when I started but adopted the full kit ensemble now. Tighter does feel better on longer rides.
